Perhaps this was to be expected, but it's looking like the Guardians of the Galaxy won't have a particularly significant role in Thor: Love and Thunder. At the end of Avengers: Endgame, the God of Thunder joined the team (dubbing them the "Asgardians of the Galaxy"), but it makes sense for the hero to leave them behind in order to team up with Jane's Foster's Mighty Thor to take on Gorr the God Butcher.
Both Karen Gillan (Nebula) and Pom Klementieff (Mantis) have shared photos on their Instagram stories confirming that they're leaving Australia, which obviously means they're done with Thor: Love and Thunder.
It is, of course, possible that one or two members of the team will have slightly bigger roles; Rocket's unexpected friendship with Thor proved to be a highlight in Avengers: Endgame, so it would be no bad thing for him to stick around for a while (Groot also clearly enjoyed hanging out with the Thunder God).
It will be up to James Gunn to continue the team's story in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, so their role here is likely just to get Thor where he needs to be for what looks set to be an epic battle against Gorr. That villain is set to be played by Christian Bale, but he hasn't made his way to Australia yet as the actor was recently spotted in Los Angeles shooting David O. Russell's next movie with Margot Robbie.
That could mean Gorr is just a voice role, with the villain brought to life via mo-cap and VFX.
