Of all the Marvel Cinematic Universe's cosmic and comic book extravagance, there is perhaps no stranger element to the franchise than that of Jeff Goldblum's Grand Master, except perhaps for the characters brother -- Benicio Del Toro's The Collector.
From the moment that Goldblum was cast as the Elder of the Universe, many fans hoped that the delightful bizarreness of both he and Del Toro would one day share the screen. They're not alone it seems, as speaking to the Toronto Sun, the Jurassic Park star was asked which character he would like to see his character meet in the future.
To which he lamented not spending time on screen with Carol's Cate Blanchett, but also expressed his desire to meet his cinematic brother, Benicio Del Toro:
“Well, I overlapped with one day of Cate Blanchett’s shooting and she’s so spectacular as Hela. I keep wanting to have scenes with her. We worked together on a Wes Anderson movie awhile ago – The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou – and I sure would love to do anything with her. But, in the comic books, the character of the Grandmaster is the brother of The Collector, played by Benicio del Toro, who I adore. So I would enjoy doing something with him. That would be fun”.
Even Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige once expressed interest in having the two characters in a film together, though with Del Toro set to have a large part in this year's Avengers: Infinity War who knows how real a possibility this is going forward. If he survives that film however, it would certainly be a pleasure to see both Del Toro and Goldblum try to out weird each other, and with the MCU going more cosmic it could only be a matter of time.
