THOR writer Ashley Miller says the THOR movie will be close to the comic!!!

Ashley Miller (co-writer of the upcoming Thor movie) was interviewed Thursday on Alpha Waves Radio. Durring the interview he talked about various projects he is involved in, but the one we all want to know about is the Thor movie that is currently in production.

Here is the portion of the interview that covers Thor.

Translating a comic book to the big screen is tough, and sometimes changes have to be made, just as they will be for "Thor."

"It's about as close as you can reasonably expect it to be" to the comic book, Miller said. "Obviously, you have to make some adjustments, and you have to compress some things simply for the sake of being able to get a lot of information out and being able to create a believable fantasy world that intersects with ours."

Thor, however, has a long history, and fans will come to the theater with all kinds of different expectations that will be impossible to meet. Miller and the writing crew for "Thor" pulled aspects of the characters from various comic book interpretations, and while Thor may not be in-line with any particular comic book incarnation, he will be "100 percent recognizable" to fans.

"Look at 'Batman Begins' for example," Miller said. "It does actually play fast and loose with the history of the character, but at the same time, it brings in real cool elements from different intrepretations of the character and puts them all together in cool ways."

There will be criticism of the project no matter what Miller, Branagh and the rest of the production team do. But Miller already has accepted it.

"I want people who love the character as much as I do to love this character in this movie, and I want people who have never been exposed to this character to love him, too, and understand why I love him," Miller said. "And that's all that matters."

Thor just continues to sound better and better to me. I just hope this steady stream of good news connected to the movie doesn't raise my expectations to unattainable hieghts.

It seems to me like everybody involved in production on this movie is as excited about it, as Jon F. and crew were about Iron Man. If this is truly the case, I think we are all in for quite an experience.

the positive spin for this film has been incredible!
but they have to make this movie sound AWESOME because this is a genre that Marvel has never done before.
I am glad the film makers and production crews are excited about Thor making his big screen debut.
but i also remember Hugh Jackman at Comic Con last year displaying a positive spin for X-men Origins: Wolverine.
XO: Wolverine was lackluster in reception at this site even though i liked it more than some, !COUGH! LEEE !COUGH!
i'm just hoping this movie isn't overhyped.
i would love for Thor to be Marvel's answer for TDK.
but like Hawksblueyes said: "I just hope this steady stream of good news connected to the movie doesn't raise my expectations to unattainable hieghts."
here's hoping that Thor succeeds where Wolverine fails:
FOR ODIN!!!!!
FOR ASGARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wadey@ the difference between the hype for THOR and the hype
for WOLVERINE:O? One thing...MARVEL = GOOD, FOX = YUCK!!!!!!

@DDD
but seeing how Wolverine is also Marvel?
and yes i hate fate for their butchery of some of my favorite characters.
and Marvel Studios hasn't made a bad movie yet.
but of course that counter for them is only two movies.
Iron Man and Incredible Hulk were AWESOME!
but i'm still wary.
there is only one company that i have absolute faith that they will never make a bad movie:
Pixar.

Jesus Christ, this movie has some of the best development I've seen in a long time.

We've got an amazing cast including Anthony f*cking Hopkins and Natalie Portman.

We've got an awesome director who is very Shakespearean in Kenneth Branagh.

And we've got some of the most positive talk coming out of pretty much everyone's mouths about it.

I'm excited, needless to say :)

I wonder if it's going to be an Asgardian dimension or a religion thing. Like, after this movie, people will die and go to where ever Asgard people go.

uk: Thanks!

DDD: I agree completely.

Wadey:You said it yourself, the two movies Marvel has put out so far have been awsome.

They are argueably among the best CBM's anyone has seen.

Marvel has yet to just hype without producing. They know their product better than anybody else and if they make something that their personel are happy with, the odds are pretty good that it is an awsome product.

Tyler: My thoughts exactly.

Something interesting I have discovered on imdb I think you guys should look it up. In the trivia section for Thor Kenneth Branagh is conceptualizing this film as a norse/comic-book twist on a 1987 film called "Der Himmel uber Berlin" or "Wings of desire".

It's about the story of an angel that tires of overseeing human activity wishes to become human when he falls in love with a mortal(its more to the movie than the actual love story). I think it's very interesting to note that if this film has been studied for Thor it has some value. The general love story of the film won't be used as much. I think Branagh is researching that paticular film for inspiration of how to make the "Gods of Asgard" more believable among our world.

The 1987 film is directed from what the angels observe about human life(emotions, fears, pain etc). The camera angles that are being shot, How the angels overlook society, and how they are seen as omnipresent as they can be anywhere.

My guess is that Kenneth Branagh wanted to direct the Gods of Asgard(while still using Asgard)in such a way that they will all seem more believable in the Earth realm. Especially Loki and Thor as they interact with Earth more. But most Asgardians can open up portals and be omnipresent.

The comics are the backbone to the Thor film but using a directing inspiration from an unknown movie to find a realistic approach to supernatural characters is genius. I can't reserve judgement for this film. From the looks of everything so far,Kenneth Branagh is a genius and Thor will be epic!!!!

@ wadey

any actor with half a brain tries to promote the movie that they're starring in in a positive way, lol. of course hugh jackman was saying positive things about Wolverine Origins. no actor is going to say, "well, y'know, this movie i'm in really isn't that good. i recommend not seeing it." lol, how stupid would that be?

1chris2@ im nervous loki won't have the helmet like he does in the comic.

i've seen many variations on loki without the helmet. he wears a small crown around his head. im thinking this is what we'll see in the movie. i hope not! but thats just what im thinking.
