Transformers: Age of Extinction, the fourth installment in Paramount's billion-dollar Transformers franchise grossed over $1.08 billion at the box office, easily making it the highest grossing film of the year. Following its success, plans for the fifth and sixth installments were set in motion with Paramount setting an expected 2016 release date for the fifth film.

After Michael Bay, director of the first four films, chose to just produce and not direct the fifth film, it was uncertain whether or not star Mark Wahlberg, who played Cade Yeager, would return to the franchise. While promoting his upcoming release The Gambler, Wahlberg spoke with MTV about the future of the Transformers franchise and seemingly confirmed his involvement in the upcoming sequel as well as possibly another sequel or two: "Yeah, I committed to doing a couple more... you know I can’t speak for Mr. Bay, but something tells me we’ll be on the set soon."

Check his full statement in the video below:

What do you guys think about Wahlberg returning for the fifth film and possibly for the sixth? Sound off with your thoughts below!

I watched this on the plane yesterday and didn't think it was that bad. Maybe just because it was distracting me from the screaming child in my left ear, but I was entertained.

Why? I think he's looking for dollars after more people have come out with dirt on old "Marky Mark." Other than that, this will just be more Sons or Anarchy inspired ass-rape on any other character they can use. For reference, see Dinobots in the last one.

I'm so disgusted with this franchise, I don't even plan on watching the next one illegally. Unless they change the Director.

was nicola the daughter? oh god being hot only gets you so far. by so far i mean it only works so much to make me like you if you blow chunks. i can't stand you in the movie, what was your purpose?! to make me hate you? i was rooting more for the douche boyfriend.

and you all thought megan fox was bad. i bet you were begging for her to be back now.

ugh just the thought of nicola's character in that movie makes my blood pressure go up and not in the good way.
