Paramount is keen on making their Transformers franchise just as big as the Marvel Cinematic Univserse.  To that end, they've put Akiva Goldsman in charge of a think tank of writers to develop ideas, outlines and continuity between multiple spinoff films.  Rumors currently speculate that the spinoff films could star Bumblebee and be Cybertron based.

Today's latest development centers around the latest addition of Nolan and Robertson-Dworet.  The two join a think tank that already includes:

  • Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead)
  • Zak Penn (X-Men: The Last Stand, The Incredible Hulk)
  • writing team  Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man)
  • Jeff Pinkner (Fringe, Lost, The Amazing Spider-Man 2)
  • writing team Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari (Ant-Man)
  • Lindsey Beer (Dig)
  • Christina Hodson (Shut In)
These days, every studio needs a Cinematic Universe. Disney has Marvel and Star Wars. Universal has Fast & Furious and mythological monsters.   Warner Bros. has the budding DC Cinematic Universe. And now Paramount wants in on the game with Transformers.

Perhaps if the venture proves successful, we'll see a Cineamtic Universe built around the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and spinoffs for Stephen Amell's Casey Jones and the introduction of  Usagi Yojimbo?
