TRANSFORMERS 5 And Animated CYBERTRON Spinoff Moving Forward At Paramount

TRANSFORMERS 5 And Animated CYBERTRON Spinoff Moving Forward At Paramount

You've by now no doubt heard about the writers room which was recently assembled by Paramount to create an entire slate of Transformers movies (names included Robert Kirkman, Steven DeKnight, Zak Penn, and more). So, what did they end up coming up with? Find out here...

Deadline reports that the Transformers writers room has now been disbanded, and the biggest thing to come out of that impressive group of talent - Christina Hodson (The Fugitive) and Lindsey Beer (Dig), Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari (Ant-Man), Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man), Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk), Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), Steven DeKnight (Daredevil), and Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Black Hawk Down) - is Transformers 5 from Akiva Goldsman. The blueprint for the movie has been created, and the plan is for Michael Bay to direct and Mark Wahlberg to return. Production will start next June.

Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari meanwhile are set to write an animated feature which will revolve around Cybertron. It's expected to be an origin story for both the Autobots and Decepticons. Shockingly, these are the only two movies to be set despite the huge number of writers who participated. However, it's thought that more could follow, because: "All of them hatched ideas together and collaborated to flesh out the universe of the Hasbro toy line to come up with possible spinoffs, sequels and prequels that they then peeled off and generated treatments...insiders say that when all the pitches and treatments were reviewed, that Spielberg felt there were potential movies in five of the nine." It sounds like the whole thing was a very collaborative process, and Transformers 5 will lay the groundwork for the spinoffs which were hatched up by the writers invovled. Are you guys excited to see what's in store for the franchise?

Ugh. To a certain degree, I still rank Transformers as an awesome blockbuster. Everything that has come after, though... .

Dark Of The Moon is somewhat bearable.

I still have a soft spot for the first Transformers. Everything else after that is a blank slate in my head.

Ugh. Do we really need a cinematic universe for the Transformers? Actually, have any of these "shared universes" outside of Marvel's and DC's actually shown any sign of coming to fruition?

I was hoping to see Bay sit out this one to focus on other projects. 13 Hours looks incredible and I liked Pain and Gain so I wanted to see him in something else other than 'Transformers'

I hope Transformers 5 is just about Shia Labeouf's Sam VS. Mark Wahlberg's Cade

Screw Batman Vs Superman, Cap Vs. Iron Man, Godzilla Vs. King Kong
Labeouf Vs. Wahlberg is where it's at!!!!

You mean to tell me we will see a sequel to a movie that made a billion dollars?

Never saw that coming. Next you're gonna tell me we will have a third Avengers film.

Seriously though, I am actually excited for this. You really think they were going to stop making these guaranteed billion $ films? Hell No

I hope Josh Duhamel will be in the next one. He was the best part of the first three.

the first transformers was so good, and its been all down hill since, when will they realize we dont give a [frick] about some family getting defended by the autobots?

"Animated?"

Because it's a completely unearthly world with no human characters, there really shouldn't be any part of a Cybertron-set prequel that could be considered "live-action."

Therefor, it's Animated.

First film told the best story. Second one had the best two action sequences of the entire franchise. Third one was ok, fourth one sucked. And the funny thing is I liked Cade Yeager better than Sam. Weird. I hope this one's better. Just quit killing every damn one of my favorite transformers.

So what we learned... Nothing. Michael Bay will direct so it doesn't matter what the "writers room" came up with.

That's all they're going with? That's nothing. One live-action movie that was already going to get made. Ridiculous.

The first live action Transformers movie is still the best of the bunch. It wasn't bloated and you could actually tell what the hell was going on.
