BOX OFFICE: TRANSFORMERS 4 Is China's Highest Grossing Movie Ever...After 2 Weeks

Michael Bay's Transformers: Age Of Extinction has now become the highest grossing movie of all time in China after just 2 weeks on release, surpassing the $221 haul taken by James Cameron's Avatar. More after the jump..

There's cash to be made in the Middle Kingdom -- something Hollywood has definitely copped onto. Marvel earned a few extra dollars at the Chinese box office when Iron Man 3 shot certain scenes specifically for that territory, and now Michael Bay has taken this to a whole new extreme by casting the likes of Li Bingbing and Han Geng in prominent roles, and actually moving the action in Transformers: Age Of Extinction to China in the final act. Audiences there have evidently lapped it up, as THR report that the flick become China's highest grossing film of all-time after being out for just two weeks. The fourth Transformers movie has earned $222.74 million, surpassing the $221 million record held by Avatar. Currently sitting on $575 million worldwide, it doesn't look as if Bay's latest beast will be slowing down anytime soon.

Despite the differences we all had when it came down to what we thought of the film. I'm pretty sure we can all agree that this theme was too tense and legendary!

bad movies ALWAYS make more money in US than any other country but now that T4 has made more money in China is because they love bad movies?

People can be so hypocrite sometimes

Kind of expected when they pander to the Chinese audiences. Shows that the American government is incompetent and untrustworthy while the Chinese government are our one true communist heroes.

If you blink, or go completely brain dead during the film you will miss the reason why they decide to go to China.

Avatar 2 won't make as much as the first one. All the 3D hype is over and that's why everyone saw the movie multiple times.

Well... I honestly don't know what to think of this. Did they like it that much because there were scenes in China?

Big Shock that a giant robot movie does well in Asia. It's not like they have anime featuring giant robots or nothing.
