Mail Online is reporting that The Boys actor Antony Starr has received a 12-month suspended prison sentence after admitting to a drunken assault on a chef in Spain. He's currently in the country working on Guy Ritchie's untitled next movie, and was forced to pay over $5000 in compensation.
Starr spent two nights in police custody and appeared in court on Thursday. He was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning, and the victim alleges he was punched twice before a glass was smashed in his face. The incident led to him being taken to hospital where he received four stitches.
"A speedy trial ended up taking place and Alicante Court of Investigation Number Nine, acting as a duty court, sentenced the arrested man to 12 months in prison and the payment of a fine of £4,141 for a crime of wounding," reads a statement from a court official. "The detainee's state of drunkenness was taken into account as an extenuating factor...His prison sentence is being suspended on the condition that he doesn’t commit another crime in two years."
Starr has yet to comment on what happened, though we'd be willing to bet that he probably won't. The matter has now been dealt with, and it's commonplace in Spain for prison sentences of two years or less to be suspended when it's a first-time offender. It's said the actor appeared in court wearing a mask and hoodie and made a quick exit, so we're sure The Boys star is just looking to move on.
The Boys season 3 is expected to premiere on Prime Video later this year. In the meantime, you can read our review of the new spinoff series, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, by clicking here.
