Following the sizzle reel released back in July and the premiere of Season 4's first episode at New York Comic-Con, Amazon Prime Video has released a proper teaser for the upcoming season of
The Expanse for those at home.
Season 4 of
The Expanse, the critically acclaimed sci-fi drama based on the series of novels by James S.A. Corey, looks to be an explosive new chapter for the series. Picking up after
the shocking Season 3 finale in which 1,300 ring portals opened up access to a wealth of hospitable habitable systems, it looks like Season 4 will delve into the complicated and often dark nature that comes with colonization.
The new trailer, which is fittingly set to an abridged version of President John. F. Kennedy's iconic "Moon" speech, teases the complexity of space exploration, especially as it pertains to the current conflict between Earth, Mars, and The Belt. As Holden noted in the Season 3 finale, prepare for
"another blood-soaked gold rush."
Season 4 of The Expanse, its first as a global Amazon Original, begins a new chapter for the series with the crew of the Rocinante on a mission from the U.N. to explore new worlds beyond the Ring Gate. Humanity has been given access to thousands of Earth-like planets which has created a land rush and furthered tensions between the opposing nations of Earth, Mars and the Belt. Ilus is the first of these planets, one rich with natural resources but also marked by the ruins of a long dead alien civilization. While Earthers, Martians and Belters maneuver to colonize Ilus and its natural resources, these early explorers don’t understand this new world and are unaware of the larger dangers that await them.
Season 4 of
The Expanse will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on December 13.
