THE BOYS Episode 5 Features Singing, Dancing, A Surprising Hookup, And Gruesome Deaths - SPOILERS

The fifth episode of The Boys season 3 is now streaming on Prime Video, and in addition to a lovely musical interlude, the hour contains a couple of rather gruesome character deaths...

Episode 5 of The Boys is now streaming, and they certainly managed to pack a lot into this hour, with, among other things, a musical number, a bit of Supe-shagging, and a couple of surprising deaths.

Viewers were concerned about Kimiko after the closing moments of last week's episode, so we're happy to report that "The Female" survived her injuries - although that blast from Soldier Boy left her completely de-powered. Kimiko is very happy to be "normal" again, and we're treated to a delightful song and dance number (not exactly the musical episode we were promised, but okay) with her and Frenchie.

Kimiko actually speaks (it's not clear if this is also in her heard, however) and plants a kiss on Frenchie. Unfortunately, their happiness is short-lived, because Little Nina wants "her attack dog" to work for her again... and won't be taking no for an answer.

Meanwhile, Starlight is still playing nice with Homelander for the cameras, but there's a big shock in store. Last week. Supersonic noticed that A-Train was sick of taking his leader's abuse, and let him in on Starlight's plan to get rid of the psychotic supe once and for all. Big mistake. The Opportunistic speedster betrayed Supersonic's trust, which leads to Homelander brutally murdering the aspiring member of The Seven, leaving his mutilated corpse on display for Starlight. Annie almost attacks Homelander in her grief, but he reminds her that Hughie could be next.

Elsewhere, Butcher has run out of Temp-V, and Maeve drops by to re-up his supply. Two share a few drinks, and despite Billy's clear disdain for Supes, they end up banging each other's brains out.

As for Soldier Boy, he returns to U.S. soil and inadvertently unleashes his devastating new power, killing dozens of innocent people in the process. Butcher, Hughie and MM - still furious at the others for using Temp-V but willing to help them take the man who killed his family down - pay a visit to retired Supe agent The Legend (Paul Reiser), who finally admits that his old client came to see him. The former leader of Payback plans to drop in on his old lover Crimson Countess, so the gang decides to use her as bait and lay in ambush.

Soldier Boy arrives, and after a Seth Rogen cameo we'd rather not get into (keep plenty of eye-soap ready), Countess admits that it was her idea to betray him and turn him over to the Russians. Soldier Boys fries her, and when he exits the trailer, MM realizes that Butcher and Hughie struck a deal with the powerful Supe: they serve up Countess on a plate, he takes out Homelander. Billy knew Marvin would never go along with the plan, so he spiked his water (something tells us there's gonna be hell to pay).

The episode ends with Starlight confronting Hughie about his Temp-V use and asking him to stay with her. The once idealistic Hughie can't see any other way of getting Homelander out of their lives, and leaves with Butcher and Soldier Boy as a devastated Annie looks on.

There was a lot more going on in “The Last Time to Look on This World of Lies,” so this only covers the main talking points. What did you guys make of the episode overall? How do you see the story progressing as we head into the home stretch? Drop us a comment down below, and check out our full season review here.
