Season Four of The Walking Dead ended with Rick and the group outgunned, outnumbered, and trapped in a train car awaiting a grim fate. Season Five picks up shortly thereafter. What follows is a story that weaves the true motives of the people of Terminus with the hopeful prospect of a cure in Washington, D.C., the fate of the group’s lost comrades, as well as new locales, new conflicts, and new obstacles in keeping the group together and staying alive. Stories will break apart and intersect. The characters will find love and hate. Peace and conflict. Contentment and terror. And, in the quest to find a permanent, safe place to call home, one question will haunt them… After all they’ve seen, all they’ve done, all they’ve sacrificed, lost, and held on to no matter what the cost... Who do they become?

The Walking Dead stars: Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Laurie Holden, Jeffrey DeMunn, Scott Wilson, Emily Kinney, Sarah Wayne Callies, Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, Iron E. Singleton, Madison Lintz, Danai Gurira, Melissa Suzanne McBride, Michael Rooker, Lauren Cohan, Vincent M. Ward, Chad L. Coleman, Brighton Sharbino, Kyla Kenedy, Lawrence Gilliard, Jr. and David Morrissey.

I love the direction of this show under Scott Gimple... it was waaay too action, action, more action under MAzzara and too slow in season 2 under Darabont

Love this show, the funny thing is during the season break of all the series I started watching series that are done or in there second/ third season. I saw The Wire, Oz, Boardwalk Empire and starting now with the second season of Hannibal. The bad thing now is that all the series that I am watching including The walking dead are still awesome. But I started compare it with the level of writing of The wire and others and well.......I should not do that because suddenly a Flash, Arrow, Shield and even walking d etc become pretty corny.

@Nasseal82isback Everything starts with great writing, that's what makes/made those shows you mentioned so good. Boardwalk declined a lot after season 2/3 because of this. But on the other hand, shows like TWD are able to turn themselves around and appeal to viewers that hold smart storytelling in high regard. Having read the comics, I think it is genius how they work in some of the stuff to make faithful to the source material while also leaving you guessing. And with everything that's coming, I only see this show getting better.

@Owlman88 Agreed. Only I would switch seasons 3 and 4 because 3 relied far too heavily on action instead of plot development. Although 3 had a better "wow" factor, 4 was far more intriguing week to week (and had many more elements from the comics).

I have to say that this season is indeed very strong. I mean the way they also started the season was balls to the walls.....I don't read the comic of this particular serie so I don't know what is going to happen. But one thing I did notice is that Rick is going more and more the psycho root. A true example of a product of his environment. Its kill or be killed

@McFarlaneFan I appreciate how much thought you seem to have put into that analysis, but I completely disagree with most of your assessment. 1-3 I'm mostly with you on, but 4 and 5 I think you're missing a lot of what is really going on..

- Where you see filler episodes, I see characters getting fleshed out. It may not be moving as fast as you'd like it too, but that's where this comic book vs the TV mediums differ.

- The Terminus story was "rushed" in a sense, but it was done so on purpose from the writers. We all expected them to be the main antagonists of season 5 and it was largely over in the first episode with loose ends tied up by the 3rd. THAT's what I want to see, A show that stays true to the heart of the comics but is able to keep me glued to the edge of my seat guessing WTF is going to happen next.

- The "ludicrous" plot points come directly from the source material, only they derive in a different way (as does most everything in this show to keep the audience guessing). Also, if you re-watch season 4, you can see the Lizzie story arc ending coming a mile away. That point in particular, to me, is when this show is at it's finest. When we see these characters humanized and developed then reach a "point of no return" when they must do something that seems unspeakable out of context, but really makes complete sense in the trajectory of their character arc and the arc of the show as a whole. It happens with Rick all the time, if we were following another group on this show and they ran into Rick's group, he would be one bad motherfukcer (and not in a good way). But we are following this group and we do know their backstory.

- Rick's behaviour towards Gareth was totally in character, that's how he act's when he has nothing to lose. I mean he ripped a guys throught out at gunpoint 2 episodes before. Also, what "one-liners" do they have? I can't think of a single catch-prase or anything remotely like that from anyone on the show.

I think you do bring up a lot of valid points that are generally overlooked like the forced plot with Rick going crazy or Daryl becoming impeccable. I also think they brought the realism back beginning with season 4. It's not fair to argue that the Governor character was "over the top" in season 3 and when the showrunner changed in season 4 now he's "too much like a real person this time." You can't have it both ways. You're finding fault with many things that simply aren't there. I'm gonna guess and say you have read the comics because if you hadn't you probably wouldn't care so much and would've probably stopped watching years ago. If that is the case, I'd urge you to try watching this next half season with the mind frame that this is a different beast from the comic book version of TWD and has a different/new story to tell. If that's not the case (if you haven't read the comics) and you really want to like the show but don't, I'd say read the comics and the show will get a lot more interesting for you. There's a fine line when bringing realism to people surviving in an apocalyptic zombie world, but I do believe that what's happened up to this point in this show wouldn't be too far off from reality.

I for one am really looking forward to the next handful of seasons. Having this show only become one of my favorites recently with the start of season 4, then binge reading the comic book in 3 1/2 days within the last year, I can say without a doubt that the best is yet to come and with how I predict the show to follow, it will be a wild ride with ever-changing dynamics and storylines. We're only about a third of the way through with most of the meat still left in the pot!

@3Traced

You're probably right, the Season 3's development for the Governor needed more "meat" but it was faaaar more entertaining than the whole epidemy and disband episodes from Season 4.

The only thing preventing Season 4 from being the worse was the assault on prison episode (highest ranked at IMDB BTW) and the awesome "Kill them all!!" phrase, otherwise it would have felt like an entire filling-episodes-season like the 2nd season.

@McFarlaneFan it must hurt to be sensitive to being name called by a person you don't even know. What I find even more crazy is how you bash me for name calling-but it's supposed to be ok for you to call me mentally limited you jackass? And I thought you might have an ounce of maturity/common sense in you somewhere-but apparently not.....
