The current season of The Walking Dead has already seen some character shakeups following the departure of Chandler Riggs and Morgan’s (Lennie James) move to the The Walking Dead spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead. Yet, amid disputes over pay between Lauren Cohan and AMC, many fans have begun to wonder if Maggie’s day were numbered or if her role will be greatly reduced.

Speaking with The Independent, Rick actor Andrew Lincoln briefly talked about season 9 and Lauren Cohan’s place in it, saying he “would be surprised if Maggie Rhee wasn’t leading from the front as she always has done next season.” In all, it sounds as if Lincoln still expects Maggie, and therefore Cohan, to have a major presence in the show’s next season.

Of course, none of this should be taken as absolute confirmation that Cohan will return next season, at least in the same capacity, as negotiations still appear to be ongoing between AMC and Cohan.

I hope is not goodbye to Cohan's character. There should be just one more season to wrap things up.
