This week’s episode of AMC's, The Walking Dead, managed to pull in about 7.8 million viewers. For most shows this would be an amazing result, but for a show that pulled in over 10 million an episode for 5 straight seasons, this is not the case.
The season eight premiere of the show was the first real indication that the show was starting to lose a significant amount of steam. This season's premiere episode "Mercy", pulled in 11.44 million viewers, the lowest since the season 3 premiere of 10.97 million. The show still clearly has a large following, but should the creators be concerned about diminishing returns?
This season’s ratings have been on a downward spiral:
8.1 “Mercy” – 11.44 million
8.2 “The Damned” – 8.92 million
8.3 “Monsters” – 8.52 million
8.4 “Some Guy” – 8.69 million
8.5 “The Big Scary U” – 7.84 million
While 7.8 million viewers is still a huge amount, is The Walking Dead in trouble?
