THE WALKING DEAD Reveals Michonne's Exit And Drops Some Major Hints About Rick Grimes - SPOILERS

Last night's episode of The Walking Dead saw Danai Gurira make her exit from the long-running AMC series, but the katana wielding badass didn't end up making some sort of heroic sacrifice. Instead, she set off to try to find Rick Grimes after coming across evidence that he's still alive.

After leaving Oceanside with Virgil, Michonne came across a boat containing Rick's cowboy boots and a phone with Michonne and Carl's likeness carved into the screen. Oh, and just in case it wasn't obvious enough, he also signed his work!

Clearly, the stage is being set for Rick to return, and the planned feature starring Andrew Lincoln will no doubt explain what he was doing on that boat (and where he's been all this time). There have been rumblings about Gurira starring in that movie, of course, but last night's episode of The Walking Dead seemingly confirmed it.

In an interview with Deadline, the actress was asked about her future as Michonne and chose her words carefully. "Well, you know I would never tell you yay or nay to that, but I think there is an open-endedness to how she exits. I will agree with you on that."

"I thought it was beautiful that she got to, you know, kind of get cosmically rewarded for helping this weird guy, Virgil, who is played by a wonderful actor who I’ve always admired, Kevin Carroll. Rewarded by finding evidence that’s something she’s always suspected was true, which was that Rick didn’t die on that bridge. We’ll see what happens next or see if something happens."

It's going to be fun to see where things go from here, and Michonne's reunion with Rick is definitely a story which deserves to play out on the big screen.

With productions halted, we don't know when work on the film will start, but stay tuned for updates.

I thought this show had ended. That's a surprise.

I’ve read that this show has had a turnaround when it comes to quality after the free fall that went on in seasons 6-8. Might be too late for a lot of people though. Haven't watched since the season 6 finale

@Supes17 - I'll admit that seasons 7 and 8 was where the show went downhill. But I think that was to do with that boring, slow pace. I think if you combined seasons 7 and 8 into one season, you'd have a really solid season. I loved the stuff with Rick/Negan/Carl in season 8 as well. Amazing finale which to be honest, should've just ended the show.

Also, season 6 was great.

@Nightwing1015 - I enjoyed Season 6 all the way up to the cliffhanger ending.

@Supes17 - Was a great cliffhanger though, lol. The Negan speech was so good. And the sign of a great show is something that makes you want to watch the next episode.

Also, not sure the drawing is of Carl. Think it's Judith.

The "rebuilding civilization" theme has resurrected this show. It's a different paradigm, but it has reinvigorated the entire premise.
