THE WALKING DEAD Tops EW's Most Shocking TV Moments Of 2014

EW have posted their top 40 most shocking television moments of the year, and right at the top of the list is a particularly sickening scene from the "Strangers" ep of The Walking Dead. Game Of Thrones, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D & Arrow also made the cut.

Unsurprisingly enough, the scene in which Gareth (Andrew J. West) chows down on Bob's (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.) leg in the closing moments of The Walking Dead's second season 5 ep, "Strangers", tops Entertainment Weekly's 40 most shocking TV moments of 2014. Sure, all signs pointed to the Terminus folk being cannibals, and fans might have expected something like this after a similar fate befell a different character (Dale) in the comics -- but actually seeing Gareth bite into Bob's leg and announce that he tasted "much better" than he thought he would crossed into some pretty f*cked up territory. Oops, I'd better watch my language...AMC don't like cursing.

In second place (also not too surprisingly) is Prince Prince Oberyn Martell's (Pedro Pascal) gruesome death at the hands of The Mountain (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson) in the eight season 4 ep of Game Of Thrones. Once again, anyone who had read the source novels obviously knew what was coming when Oberyn began to toy with the fallen behemoth, but I expected it and I was still shocked by the sheer brutality of how his demise was depicted on screen. "And I smashed her head in....like THIS!".

Oliver Queen's (Stephen Amell) "death" at the hands of Ra's al Ghul (Matt Nable) in the season 3 finale of Arrow came in at #12, and Skye's (Chloe Bennet) Inhuman reveal from the midseason finale of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D made the #30 spot. Click the link below to find out what scenes from the likes of Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, Orphan Black and The Strain are also featured.
