UPDATE: The WALKING DEAD Spinoff Is Titled FEAR THE WALKING DEAD?

According to The Talking Dead host Christ Hardwick's Nerdist site, the title of The Walking Dead spinoff from AMC is "Fear the Walking Dead." Read on for additional spoilers.

According to Nerdist, the title of The Walking Dead spinoff is Fear The Walking Dead.  The site further reports that one of the lead characters from Fear The Walking Dead will be featured in a six episode arc in season 6 of The Walking Dead.  This implies that either season 6 will feature flashbacks or we'll see future, grittier versions of Fear The Walking Dead's cast.  If this rumor proves true, it's probably more likely that season 6 will feature flashbacks as I can't imagine Robert Kirkman and AMC spoiling who lives and dies on the spinoff before the pilot airs.

We already know that the spinoff takes place during the time that Rick was in a coma during the early days of the zombie plague outbreak.  Fear The Walking Dead's cast includes Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey.  Adam Davidson is directing the pilot.

The Walking Dead spinoff is expected to premiere some time in 2015.

UPDATE: Bleeding Cool apparently got their hands on the script for "Fear The Walking Dead" however, the site was threatened with legal action and they were forced to remove the excerpts from the script. It's currently unclear whether just the pilot episode of The Walking Dead spinoff is titled "Fear The Walking Dead" or if that is indeed the title of the show.

The Walking Dead is a post-apocalyptic, zombie survival series airing on AMC.  It is based on the ongoing, back-and-white comic book created by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore in 2003.  The first episode of The Walking Dead  premiered on October 31, 2010.  The show is the most-watched telecast in basic-cable history.  AMC formally announced plans for a "companion series" for The Walking Dead in September 2013, which currently has the working title, Cobalt.

You didn't read what was at the link, did you? Here's an excerpt:

"While The International Business Times has got a comment that “Fear The Walking Dead” is just the name of the pilot, not the name of the show. The letter does however confirm the legitimacy of the script."

It's going to be so fun watching people walk in circles for 13 episodes.

@Luminus That site is FAR from a legitimate source.

So, they just attached a word to the existing title. Reminds me of when I first heard the title; The Dark Knight Rises.

Why is there a spinoff??? We don't need a copy of the show unless they were to crossover with breaking bad

Even though I gave up on Walking Dead, I might give this spinoff a watch. I'm interested in seeing what the early days of the breakout was like.

It's just one character. Their intention probably is to have fans watch the spin-off to see how he/she end up where they are by S6 of the main series.

Still sounds horrible though.

@MarkJulian: Maybe not, but I'm 99.9% sure that the name of the series is not "Fear the Walking Dead." lol. It could be called "Walkers" or whatever.

Kirkman said he wasn't interested in an FPS of TWD.

Survival Instinct.

Kirkman said he wasn't interested AT ALL in doing a spin-off with separate characters (for his comics and show).

Here comes this.

The Walking Dead has become a chore to watch after the 2nd season.

FEAR THE WALKING DEAD?

Add that to the list of the most awkward or lazy titles:

DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE
STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS
THE DARK KNIGHT RISES
AfterMASH
TEEN WOLF TOO

I'm too busy wishing the current series would reach a conclusion to be concerned with a spin-off.

@markjulian You really should take this article down, since ya know, it's wrong. It's been proven wrong, that's the title of the pilot not the series. Next time try a lil thing called "research," dumbass.

@Gronk87 How has it been proven? And if I didn't research, there would be no update, smart guy.

Agreed.

Although this half-season was the best it's since then.

I gave up on the Walking Dead a while back, but I might check this show out. It'll be cool to see the initial zombie outbreak.

@ImKennyPowers I'd definitely agree with you.

Season 3 and 4 almost forced me to take TWD off my watch list, but this season has been great.

@TheEpicJuicebox why crossover with Breaking Bad? Due to that blue bag of meds Darryl had in his Bike pouch in the first season? are you serious?
TheEpicJuicebox
TheEpicJuicebox - 1/23/2015, 1:24 PM
@Pinocchio well first of all those "blue meds" where in fact the same crystal meth that Walt makes the producers even stating that it was a Easter egg for breaking bad. Secondly the episode is in the second season of the show not the first. And finally yes I am serious for at least ONE character to crossover like Jesse Pinkman since they're owned by the same station which honestly would make the show more interesting than it is now.
