We Finally Know Whether Or Not Lauren Cohan Will Return For THE WALKING DEAD Season 9

There's been a lot of talk about Lauren Cohan's future as part of The Walking Dead but the actress has finally shed some light on what comes next for her and whether or not she'll return to the series.

Well, we now know that The Hilltop is going to have its leader back in season nine because Lauren Cohan has confirmed that she will return for The Walking Dead season nine. Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus signed new deals earlier this year but the actress has been on the fence about returning while attempting to secure the same level of pay as her co-stars (or at least a pay rise).

Cohan's decision to sign up for ABC pilot Whiskey Cavalier also left her The Walking Dead future in doubt but during an appearance at CinemaCon to promote her new movie Mile 22, the actress said: "I’m going back. There’s a lot more Maggie story to tell." That makes sense based on how the character was left at the end of season eight as it would have made no sense for her to just vanish.

So, what should we expect from Maggie moving forward? "You know we’re not allowed to tell you anything, but it’s good," she teased. That answer was to be expected and it will definitely be interesting seeing what comes next for Maggie, especially as the character appears to be taking aim at Rick after his decision to spare Negan. As always, share your thoughts on this news down below.

The way they ended it, the setup for the next season kinda hinges on her involvement.

Seems like AMC have set the stage for Maggie to be killed off next season.

At the end of the Whisperers story arc, Sherry (Dwight's wife) stages an uprising against Rick and Alexandria with the Saviours, deciding that she's sick of men like Rick and Negan telling her what to do. It ends in Rick killing Sherry in an accident and Dwight being highly suspicious of the whole incident and Rick's capabilities as leader afterwards.

On the show, Dwight and Sherry have both been written out.

That last scene in the finale with Maggie, Jesus and Daryl all plotting to kill Negan and bring down Negan to me strongly suggests that Maggie will take Sherry's role from the comics and Daryl will take Dwight's role....Meaning Maggie will be getting killed off.

I hated the whole 'We're going to fight Rick' bullshit scene anyway as it just came out of nowhere, and Jesus in particular spent the whole season telling people 'Guys lets not kill people, we don't need to,' so it makes no sense for him to suddenly be Team 'Let's kill Negan and damn the consequences.'

Makes sense that she reworked her contract. Pretty sure Angela Kang had a lot to do with giving her more money since she is the show runner now.
