ARROW Executive Producers On HUNTRESS And Other DC Characters

Someone will figure out Oliver Queen's secret identity pretty early on says executive producer Gregg Berlanti, but who is the question? Plus, are there any DC characters off the table for cameo appearances?

The promo material for CW's Arrow looks promising and the early reviews of the pilot episode have all been positive making a show that was met with skepticism when first announced, one of the must-see-shows premiering this Fall. One thing comic book fans are especially anticipating is discovering exactly who and how their favorite DC characters are being incorporated into the show. Recently, TV-Guide caught up with Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim and Gregg Berlanti to try and get the scoop.

On Huntress.
"She's going to be a match for [Oliver], both in skill and in matters of the heart. It's a new take on The Huntress that no one has ever seen, but definitely feels Arrow-fied for our world." - Kreisberg

On Firestorm step-mom, Felicity Smoak.
"On our show, she's a brilliant IT girl at Queen Consolidated and she's become a little bit of Oliver's unknowing Scooby gang," Kreisberg says. "She's brilliant, but tough and sarcastic and doesn't relate well to people. Oliver is constantly coming to her for computer problems, and whether she knows it or not, she's actually helping him solve some of the cases." - Kreisberg

On Green Arrow's secret identity and if his sister, he jokingly referred to as 'Speedy' will be the one that finds out.
"Oliver shares his secret with someone pretty early on," Berlanti says. "That becomes a part of the debate of what is he doing and what tactics is he using and is he crossing the line?"

"You're certainly welcome to hope (that it's Thea Queen, played by Willa Holland)," Kreisberg says. "The Oliver-Thea relationship has its ups and downs and it's one of the most complicated relationships we have on the show," Guggenheim adds.

Which DC characters can appear on the show?
"Aside from the characters that wouldn't fit into our conception of Oliver's world, like some of the more fantastical aliens or superpowered people, everybody is really sort of up for grabs." - Kreisberg

Of course, there's also Deadshot, Deathstroke, China White and a rumored appearance by Green Arrow mentor, Merlyn to also look forward to; as well as a slew of Green Arrow support characters also set to appear on the show. The producer trio also stated that one character who won't rush to don superhero tights or rather fishnet stockings will be Dinah Lance aka Black Canary, played by Katie Cassidy. It will be interesting to see if she's aware of the (implied above) romance between Oliver and Huntress or if she's even aware that Oliver is Green Arrow. For a show that's deciding to take a sharp left from Smallville it would certainly help to not have a Clark Kent/Lois Lane type relationship between it's two main stars.

Arrow premiers October 10th on the CW.

Ya' gotta watch more than one pilot episode. Give it half a season before proclaiming it a success or failure! It takes some time for the writers to flesh out their characterizations.
I mean, this is true for all shows, really.

Well maybe not "Mob Doctor." You can just go ahead and skip that one.

This show will be good, I liked Smallville but I really only got to watch the first 5 seasons. A lot of people hated the show but it came out during the "Dawson's Creek" "O.C." teen drama era & that's what was hot at the time. Today Superheroes are hot, we already have shows like "Heroes" & "Alphas" & "The Walking Dead",Combicbook Movies that are pretty close to the source material are breaking records. I think this will be the first of many tv shows that will have us & this website losing are shit & taking are money!

I agree with PsyBoy. I was hoping Black Canary would be on the show. There's always Nightwing. Either way, Arrow is still going to be a great show.

I looking forward to this, I won't mind seeing some BLACK CANARY with her fine ass, but also I want to see the interaction between her and HUNTRESS. I've never seen HUNTRESS in live-action before. Stephen Amell looks pretty good for GREEN ARROW. So this is to me, HIGHLY ANTICIPATED!!

I'm looking forward to this. I wish they were more open on the cameos.

I know superpowered characters don't exist in Arrow's world, but still.

I sucks that we won't see Superman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, or Aquaman. At least we get Batman. :)

I'm interested in the show, but I read words like "Arrow-fied" and all I can think of is all the changes Smallville made. I'll give it a look but I'm on the fence about it.

This shows gonna suck donkey balls. And I can tell this early because I know exactly what their approach is. TDK-like. So Nolanized, with Nolan being a part of it to guide the style.

They've just taken a hero and made him "less stupid". I've seen all the clip and trailers and whatnot, and not once did I feel that this new guy was Oliver Queen.

And it seems like they're using Huntress as the poor man's Catwoman.

[frick] this shit. It is going to suck hard.

*Nolanized, WITHOUT Nolan being a part of it to guide the style.

I'm looking forward to Arrow. It sounds as if the producers want to make a dark, gritty show that is also fun. They are looking to use a lot of DC characters even if there will not be any super powered ones.
