ARROW Season 5 Finds Its Big Bad In The Form Of THE WALKING DEAD's Chad L. Coleman

His Tyrese wasn't quite as badass as his comic book counterpart in The Walking Dead, but Chad L. Coleman now looks set to make up for that in Arrow's fifth season. Find out who he's playing here...

We recently heard that The CW was looking for a Stringer Bell type to play the big bad in Arrow's fifth season. Well, while the network clearly couldn't afford Idris Elba, IGN has revealed that the still very talented Chad L. Coleman (who also appeared in The Wire) has now been chosen to take on the role of a villain newly created for the show and not from the comics. His name will be Tobias Church.

Not much is known beyond that as of right now, but the site goes on to mention that he's, "an imposing gangster looking to unite the various criminal enterprises in Star City under his own singular command." It was previously revealed that the crime lord steps up to fill the void left by Damien Darhk and H.I.V.E., while we also know that he'll first appear in the season five premiere.

Coleman is no stranger to comic book adaptations after playing Tyreese in The Walking Dead, and this is the latest in a long line of casting additions to the DC Comics adaptation. What do you think?

Cool I guess.
Still not watching except for crossovers and Vixen appearances, but hey, let me know how this season goes with introducing 3 new vigilantes and trying again to create an original villain.

This show gets consistently more retarded

The whole point of adapting a comic book is to adapt COMIC BOOK CHARACTERS

WHY should I give a [frick] about this news, this is a made up character. What made this show fun at first was seeing live action versions of characters we already know and love

Cancel this lame shit please

@RichardGrayson - You don't have to consistently use comic book villains lol. Harley Quinn literally came from an adaption

Why not Tobias Whale?

Also, just watched the wire for the first time over the last couple of weeks. Show was great and I loved seeing this guy again after his departure from TWD.

I know arrow has had a really shit past season or more but, well, for one thing Damian Dark was a dogshit villain. I hope to see something more. It looks like they're trying to really shake things up and there has been enough good stuff in the past for me to at least be hopeful they can do some new things going forward.

Mayne Flashpoint will help.

If they decide to change Tobias Whale from being an albino Chad could be a great version of him.

@BlackIceJoe - would be the height of irony to change him away from albino

Flashpoint could fix everything. Barry could go back in time, kill Felicity's mom before Felicity was born, and the world would be fixed.

Looks like Arrow hasn't learned "Moving away from the comics=crap". C'mon! At least attempt to show fans you've learned from your mistakes!

The weird thing about that is Cisco has mentioned the Walking Dead at least two times. And he's come face to face with two Walking Dead cast members already. Surely he would recognize Chad L. Coleman and then start to piece together that he is part of a TV show.
