We knew this was coming for a while now, but with Arrow star Stephen Amell recently revealing that he donned the Green Arrow suit for the last time, it's hard not to feel like the forthcoming series finale is nearly upon us.

And now, after nearly half of season 8 has been aired, The CW has officially set a date for the series, and it looks as if the show’s last moments will be quite the celebration. Per the network, Arrow will conclude its final season with an epic two-hour event on January 28, 2020.

This colossal event will kick off with a finale preview that airs at 8:00 pm and will be followed by the final episode at 9:00 pm. There are currently no details on what exactly the finale preview will entail, but it’s expected to serve as a celebration of sorts for the show’s entire run.

Similarly, there is little known about the last episode of Arrow, but thanks to some recent announcements, we do know Emily Bett Rickards and Joe Dinicol will return to reprise their roles as Felicity Smoak and Rory Regan.

Two hour special... so that would be about 75 minutes without commercials.

Love it or hate it (I personally considered it a poor man's Batman), but it still managed to stick around for eight seasons and managed to start up a fairly lively universe, which over the last decade has been shown to be a very difficult thing to do. So kudos.

I'll miss using this picture most of all.

I respect this show for not going overkill like Supernatural and bowing out at the right time.

@WilliamCipher - I just watched Season 1 - 8 again bro, damn anything past Season 4 is hard to watch! Despite a few entertaining filler episodes, the shows dry?

I was actually hoping that the finale would simply be a 2 hour long episode. I think they've earned it.

Goodbye, Archer Batman. It's been a bumpy ride but you definitely had an impact.

I thought it was going to be for real a 2-hour finale, hopefully the final preview will hype up more the finale coming afterwards.

This could also be treated to Arrow since it was the first show in the shared Arrowverse franchise. It'll likely cover Oliver's adventures in his show as well as all those times he joined forces with the rest of heroes against many non-human threats.

Bring it!

I haven't kept up with the show very well after S04, but I did watch most of last season and I liked it (except for the weird future stuff, I felt confused with it) and will try to catch up to this during December. Point is, I'm sad to see it go, the show had some really high highs! From the second half of S01 all the way up to The Climb (still my favorite episode of the show) the show was pretty darn good.
