ARROW: The Stakes Have Never Been Higher In The New Promo For Season 7, Episode 2: "The Longbow Hunters"

Arrow returned with a big bang tonight as not only did it catch fans up with the Green Arrow during his prison stay, it also dropped a pretty major bombshell about what's to come for the rest of the year.

Goodbye flashbacks... hello flashforwards!

Tonight's seventh season premiere of Arrow featured quite the unexpected surprise as one mysterious storyline that followed an unidentified man traveling to Lian Yu turned out to actually be a flashforward to twenty years in the future and that "man" was actually an adult William, who had made the trip to track down an older Roy Harper (Colton Haynes).

While details are being held close to the chest, showrunner Beth Schwartz did reveal that the flashforwards will have a presence all season and for the rest of the series (however long that may be). She also confirmed that fans will be seeing older versions of other characters as well, but she wouldn't name names just yet.

"The Longbow Hunters" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, LV) (HDTV)

FELICITY IS DETERMINED TO FIND DIAZ AT ANY COST - In order to track down Diaz (Kirk Acevedo) from inside prison, Oliver (Stephen Amell) realizes that will require aligning with an old enemy. Meanwhile, in Star City, Felicity's (Emily Bett Rickards) attempts to root out Diaz are thwarted by Diggle (David Ramsey), whose allegiance to ARGUS now requires him to keep civilians like her on the outs. Realizing that she can no longer rely on her old team or old methods, a clear-eyed Felicity resolves to find a new way to go after Diaz. Laura Belsey directed the episode written by Jill Blankenship & Rebecca Bellotto (#702). Original airdate 10/22/2018

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the North China Sea. He returned home to Star City, bent on righting the wrongs done by his family and fighting injustice. As the Green Arrow, he protects his city with the help of former soldier John Diggle, computer-science expert Felicity Smoak, former protégé Roy Harper, brilliant inventor Curtis Holt, street-savvy Rene Ramirez and meta-human Dinah Drake. Oliver will find himself vulnerable in a way unlike ever before when a mysterious new enemy begins to unravel his work as Green Arrow, forcing him to redeem his name or risk losing everything.

Arrow features:
Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow
Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance/Black Siren
David Ramsey as John Diggle/Spartan
Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak
Echo Kellum as Curtis Holt/Mr. Terrific
Rick Gonzalez as Rene Ramirez/Wild Dog

I thought it was a pretty strong premiere that was well done. It had some great action, the prison fight scene in particular was great. The prison setting in general is great, nice to see some familiar faces and the portrayal of what Oliver is going through is well done. Diaz showing up to kill Felicity and William was well done too, Felicity actually handled herself really well but man, when Diaz just tossed her like nothing into the table...!! The new Green Arrow is also really interesting, his action scenes are good as well (especially when he drags the guy through the air).

But holy crap, I was thinking that the island scenes were flashbacks, instead they were flashforwards!! Whoa, biggest twist of the night.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Oliver beating that guy with the 50lb weight was comically ridiculous. He was holding it in one hand, when he was done and just tossed it aside. The guy's skull would've cracked with the first hit, yet he was still conscious. Plus, why did the guards allow that guy to get jumped in the lunch room? What nonsense.

Other than that, it was good ep.

@Luminus - yeah I noticed that. Perhaps they were rubber weights idk.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Best premiere hands down. Loved every second. Each new creative decision I'm in love with. I wish I could binge this show right now.

The new Green Arrow is 100% Roy. The 2 biggest clues are when the sting operation trapped him and the cops surrounded him he did a Roy flip down that opening in the floor to escape, and then later when he was in his base he was sitting there in his Green Arrow suit but the room was like completely lit in Red lighting which we all know is Roy's color as Red Arrow. If it's not Roy then they are going out of their way to make observant viewers think its Roy for a massive misdirect.

@ArthurFleck - I thought that flip down the opening was odd. lol.

@ArthurFleck - I think they are going out of their way to misdirect. They like to do that with a lot of their mystery characters.

Yeah the new creative decisions were very good!

@HeavyMetal4Life - yeah its definitely a possibility it's misdirection. I just cant see them explaining the Roy flips and red lights being the m.o. of some other dude who's proficient with a bow and arrows and can mimic Oliver's moves. Just seems too obviously Roy to have it then be someone else. Maybe its Malcolm and he survived the island... oh wait.... I thought Prometheus destroyed Lian Yu. How is future Roy on it? And it still had Robert Queens grave relatively intact. Could the flash forwards also be an alternate timeline or a different Earth? Hmmmmm.

HeavyMetal4Life - 10/16/2018, 6:57 AM
@ArthurFleck - I really hope Malcolm returns, love John Barrowman.

So Prometheus didn't technically destroy the island. He charred a lot of it, but its not like he obliterated the entire surface (hence why some of team Arrow survived above ground). A lot of those older growth trees could have survived the burn, and in 20 years vegetation would have regrown on much of the island in a tropical setting. So I don't think its an alternate timeline.

With regards to Roy, it just seems too obvious and as I said, they like misdirection. It also wouldn't 100% make sense because that means Roy would have left Thea after 6 months (unless Thea sent him back to carry on her brother's mission).

ok so...

I started season 6 last week.

Definitely do not like Diaz suddenly becoming the big bad. He was just....there the whole time but now hes gonna be the villain? More interested in the divided team situation.
