ELSEWORLDS Promo Image Features John Wesley Shipp As The Flash; Major Plot Details Revealed

Earlier today we got a new glimpse of Ruby Rose as Batwoman, and now another official still from the upcoming "Elseworlds" crossover event features John Wesley Shipp back in the Scarlet Speedster's duds...

Some recent set snaps spoiled the surprise that John Wesley Shipp would be suiting-up as The Flash once again in this year's Arrowverse crossover, but now we have an official look at the veteran actor as The Scarlet Speedster alongside our main trio of heroes.

In addition, EW has revealed more Elseworlds plot details, and we finally have an explanation as to why Oliver Queen and Barry Allen have switched lives.

It turns out that Arkham Asylum doctor John Deegan (Jeremy Davies) manages to rewrite reality (with the use of a certain Dream Lord's ruby, perhaps?), which results in Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Barry (Grant Gustin) swapping places - but those two, along with Supergirl, are the only ones that know what's actually happened.

Here's what Gustin had to say to EW about the Quantum Leap-style switch.

“You’re not going to see me playing Oliver Queen’s mannerisms, or Stephen playing Barry’s mannerisms. It’s more being aware that for some reason we’ve switched lives and destinies. It’s more the fun of the situational comedy that we keep finding ourselves in, and less us having a complete role reversal. We get to see Stephen do some of the more goofy speed stuff I have to do on a regular basis, and I get some actual combat as Green Arrow. So, we just see different colors for each of us.”

This year's Arrowverse crossover begins Sunday, Dec. 9 with The Flash at 8 p.m., then continues on Monday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. with Arrow, and concludes with Supergirl on Tuesday the 11th at 8 p.m.

Man, that looks like they found the actual 90s costume in a storage locker. Though I guess they couldn't find the boots.

@Reeds2Much - Interestingly, those are indeed the original boots. It baffles me how these guys can make a whole super silly suit like this but draw the line at yellow boots lmao

@Reeds2Much -

The 90's suit was recreated by reviewing the original series footage. The same person who designed
Barry's new suit recreated the 90's suit.

@WarnerBrother - Barry's new suit for S5 looks sooo bad imo. :(

Amell can't even make that Flash suit look decent. Such a garbage suit.

Just give him the Season 3 Future Flash suit.

I'm sorta sad that this could be the greatest crossover ever yet the worst Flash suit is in it. How that suit got approved is beyond me.

@ArthurFleck - well he at least looks better in the new suit than Barry/Gustin does.

They really, really need to add a cowl after this crossover. It would really make things SOOOO much better.
