HAWKGIRL TV Series Reportedly In Development At The CW

We only caught a glimpse of Hawkgirl in the trailer for DC's Legends of Tomorrow, but The CW clearly has big plans for the character who first appeared for a split second in the season finale of The Flash. According to Spoiler TV, the network is planning a separate series starring Hawkgirl which will see Ciara Renée reprise the role. When the actress was first cast, the character of Kendra Saunders was described as a young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries. When provoked, her ancient warrior persona manifests itself, along with wings that grow out of her back, earning her the moniker Hawkgirl.

The site goes on to point out that the project is still in the very early stages of development, but add that "If The CW decides to move forward with it, it will most likely bypass the pilot stage and get a straight to series order." There's no word on whether it would be set before of after the events of Legends of Tomorrow, but this is a show with a ton of potential, especially if it leads to Hawkman joining her! Here's hoping we hear more at Comic-Con. Would you guys tune in to Hawkgirl

This is interesting. I've only seen little of Renée on YouTube but she seems like a good actress. Earth 2 Hawlgirl is a great character, hopefully it'll take influence from her.
Good to see DCCW moving forward with more shows, maybe a SDCC announcement?

DC shows on HBO - Yes please. Have them connected? No thank you

Agreed without Arrow we wouldn't have all these shows.

These people are smart. Once they get tired of a show (Arrow Season 3) they can just move on to the next one. That being said, I have zero interest in a Hawkgirl show. Never been a fan of the Thangarians and their complicated history

And I'm over here thinking S3 was actually a really good season.

But this is pretty good news. If Hawkgirl gets a spin-off, I wonder who will be that new hero that will join the Legends of Tomorrow series.

I think it would be a great idea to have limited series starring the heroes in-between the hiatus of Flash and Arrow or between seasons.

Superhero teams are very interchangeable in the comics, and to have members come in and out of Legends of tomorrow, followed by stand alone series or prequel series is awesome.

@misterbatman212

I am not questioning the potential quality that a DC Comic show on HBO would have.

But the thing that make's me against connecting shows and movies, is mostly because a moviegoing audience has neither the time and/or intrest to watch X amount of shows and X amount of seasons to get 100% of a specific movie. Why do you think Agents of shield for starters only have tie ins with the movies that effect that shows and not the other way around??

Also add the fact that the show can do so much more if it is its own thing.

She's gonna be overworked if she's already appearing in Legends of Tomorrow and now her own series?!

I'll tune in. I second the idea that they should do limited series and change the characters each year. There aren't enough good Hawkgirl stories to drag it out for years.

I'd love to see a Vixen series, that could be really epic.
And then have her join Legends of Tomorrow

TronVin
TronVin - 6/21/2015, 9:46 AM
@Emblemmaniac

That's why you make the shows about relatively minor characters and limit their overall impact on the greater universe similar to Daredevil.

I'm all for LOT but...damn they're really throwing a lot at us. Superhero movie fatigue may be setting in and now it seems like superhero tv fatigue could be coming. Let's she how she does in LOT before we give her a show.

But then again, the supposed ATOM series turned into LOT so idk if this will happen
CherryBomb

Overworked? She's a broadway star and in incredible shape,
Actors don't know the meaning of overworked until they've been performing on broadway

I think she's going to be a stand out of Legends of Tomorrow

@TronVin

And where will you have to get his backstoru and motivations etc? In the Nettflix Daredevil show... Sure it is popular, but not everyone that follows the movies has watched that show...

Sure you could do so like Daredevil. but once he finally appearce in a movie, those that has not been able or have had the intrest to see the show will now have to watch the show to get the movie to 100%. And that is why i am against connecting shows with movies.

These writers are stretching their availability for all these shows....kreisberg and Berlanti work on every dc show besides gotham.....arrow has suffered in my opinion because of neglect and more care going towards flash. Idk about this

She's super pretty, but I dunno about a full series. A mini-series actually does sound like it would turn out better...
TheGambitFreak
TheGambitFreak - 6/21/2015, 9:51 AM
Seriously? Just stop. You already put her in LoT. Take her out of that and the show loses a good chunk of what made it cool. Besides, she can't hold a show all on her own. Arrow is a good example. In order to make that appeal to the masses, they had to turn him into Batman. Stick to the major superheroes. I don't care to see a Hawkgirl series.
CombatWombat
CombatWombat - 6/21/2015, 9:54 AM
I was relieved to hear the Atom series would be only 12 or so episodes. It just sounds like they can accomplish more without having to pad out a full season with filler. Flash suffered from that problem a bit

then they get bitchd at for doing interracial relationships no win situation I guess

@misterbatman212 @TronVin

Let me aslo point out the bombarding of confusion and hate WB will have from some of the fanboys of several of their shows... If you think Flarrowverse fanatics are angry that Grant and Stephen are not in the movies now, then guess how they would react if G^HBo had shows that would connect with the movies
TronVin
TronVin - 6/21/2015, 9:58 AM
@soberchimera

Because this isn't Hawkwoman. Hawkwoman and Hawkgirl are two different characters.

@Emblemmaniac

You mean they can't do what they did with Nick Fury, Hawkeye and Black Widow?
