Manu Bennet Probably Isn't Coming Back To ARROW

It's very rare for Manu Bennet (Arrow's Deathstroke) to reply to fan comment's, but a fan's comment about Arrow has got him to reply, and it sounds like he hated Arrow Season 3 as much as we did...

It's no secret that Manu Bennet (Arrow's Deathstroke) is not a fan of the show's third season. Previously stating that he feels the writers "took the character in the wrong direction" and saying that Thea beating Slade in Season 3 was just "a beating of Slade" and that it "added insult to the injury"

Now Manu seems to have agreed with a (pretty funny) fan comment about how the Arrow writers (cough*Marc Guggenheim*cough) would make Felicity beat Slade and that he should stay away from the show, as you can see below. This seems to be the nail in the coffin, and bad new for fan's of Bennet's character (everyone who watches Arrow). As a fan I would love for Deathstroke to return to Arrow for Season 4, as he is to me and many other fans, the best part about the show, but it seems that that's just not going to happen. I wonder if this rules out apperances on The Flash as well ?

Can't blame him, his appearance this season was just sad. Hopefully Arrow gets its shit together this season.

Well,

It really seems like Arrow's final enemy in the flashbacks is going to be Slade or Wintergreen and that's where the masked grave comes from. I'm pretty sure that everyone on the Arrow staff realizes now what the low points of last season were, so they could probably talk Manu into coming back if they had the right story. There's too much going on this season on Arrow and Flash to bring Slade back anyway.

After "Daredevil" left "Arrow" in the dust, I could never watch Arrow with the same level of enthusiasm ever again.

But... the one thing that still holds up with Arrow, is Manu Bennett as Deathstroke. I never cared for the comics version, so it was a big surprise on how much I enjoyed Manu Bennett's version who is a freakin awesome foe to watch. I was more invested in Slade Wilson's storyline, than any relationship hurdle that Oliver Queen goes through.

I think he can still be used in a DC/CW series, but I'm not sure if we'll ever see the character again.

But seriously, I'd love to see him back, although I doubt he will return. Much as I loved him in S2 the way he was defeated in the end was kind of lame, and deserving of a rematch.

What they did to him in S3... just no...

When Arrow has gone downhill so bad, former stars don't wanna come back. They did [frick] Slade up. He deserved better

Sadly I knew this was coming. He was the best thing about season 2 and he made season 3 stink, because he wasn't the lead villain.

Really loved the actor, sad they messed up such a great villain.

But I would love for him to play either Wolverine or Taskmaster.

While I'd love for him to be Wolverine, I think that Fox would mess it up so I think he'd be best cast as Taskmaster. At the moment anyway.

Clearly he was awesome in the role, but despite the fact people didn't absolutely LOVE season 3, it doesn't mean there isn't big plans for him in the future.

Let's just chill when it comes to jumping to conclusions that Manu only hated season three. He had a problem with how he was dealt with in S2 as well.

“I think they should have honoured the Marv Wolfman character who was literally unstoppable. I read the DC comic books and thought Deathstroke was so bad arse because they make it that nobody can stop him. He’s not even super-powered, he is just a mercenary.

“It took the Justice League to defeat him; it took an army to take him on. In Arrow, it took a while for Oliver [Queen/Arrow] to prove his point, but [season three] was just a beating of Slade, adding insult to injury.”

Clearly it was not just S3. I don't think Manu was even a huge fan of the Shado sub plot either and I could have sworn he actually said this during some comic convention earlier in the year but I can't seem to find that quote, but he obviously didn't like the idea of The Arrow stopping him as well since he even brought up the Justice League.

And where exactly did he even mention Thea by name? What he is even referring to was just how Slade was handled in his episode in S3. Don't mention Thea by name when he didn't even mention her by name. It was the entire episode he was not a fan of. And besides, why would he even bring up Thea's name regardless? I could have defeated a powerless Slade Wilson if I hit him with a log too.

I agree that his appearance in season three was horrendous, but I hope that he comes back at some point. I don't really know what to make of Arrow season three, I don't think it was as big a train wreck as everyone else does but it was certainly a let down compared to season two. Hopefully season four will be better, I'm taking the news that they're finally referring to him as the Green Arrow as a sign that the show is on the right track again.

@ComicFan523

I didn't have any major quarrels with S3 as a lot of people did, but I think the reason why it deserves to get any flack is because it didn't feel as "tight" as the previous two seasons. Just look at the whole Ted Grant/Wildcat situation or the Chase/Thea storyline(which could have been scrapped easily and just have League of Assassins members going after Thea, who then is rescued by Ollie, Roy and Malcolm). S2 definitely tied things up neatly as did the first season.

The whole 'Olicity' angle get flack too, but when you're even trying to introduce a love storyline, especially on The CW...you're going to get something that's rather mopey and something that drags on way too much which is why I only watched Supernatural on The CW until Arrow and now Flash came along because the network is basically centered on that. But, I can't help but to stick around just because I love Green Arrow and I've waited for this progression for Ollie to become Green Arrow which is what the writers have always spoken about and now I want S4 to go balls to the wall when it comes to Green Arrow.

@0megaDaGr0dd- That was a good call on Wolverine. Give him the porkchop sideburns and that weird haircut and we've got ourselves a Wolverine. Psst, just keep him away from Singer.

Good call on Bullseye, but I personally would like Bullseye to be skinnier than him.

Bullseye should be just a total psycho. Target practice is what he's good at, he shouldn't be muscular.

But I wouldn't mind it if he was cast. He would IMO have to loose some weight though.
