The Next Crossover Between ARROW, THE FLASH, LEGENDS OF TOMORROW And SUPERGIRL Will Be Very Different

Showrunner Marc Guggenheim is already teasing this year's four-way crossover between Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and The Flash that will be very different from The Dominators.

Technically, the first crossover between The CW's DCTV shows occurred between The Flash and Arrow as season 2 of the Green Arrow TV drama featured a backdoor pilot for the Scarlet Speedster's solo series.  Ever since, each of the network's DC Comics superhero shows have featured a crossover miniseries that has seen aliens attack, an immortal madman on the rampage and bombs threaten to destroy Star City.

For the next crossover, showrunner Marc Guggenheim is teasing that the stakes might be smaller in scope but the outcome will still have important developments in its aftermath.

"If we end up doing what we’re talking about doing, it’s going to be pretty cool.  The crossover is always the most challenging thing we do, but it’s also the most fun. Every year we feel the pressure [to top ourselves]. I feel like each crossover has topped the previous one. Topping last year’s, that’s a high bar, if for no other reason than what do you do that’s bigger than aliens?

We’ve got some very, very exciting ideas…. Very early on in the process of doing last year’s crossover, Greg [Berlanti] said there’s probably no way to get bigger than aliens, so the best way to make the [next] crossover especially epic is if you can’t increase the bombast, increase the emotional stakes and the emotional payoffs, so that’s a very oblique comment on where our heads are at for this season.
"

Between Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow, it will certainly be interesting to see what Guggenheim and co. cook up with such a diverse cast of superheroes.  With a more emotional-focused crossover perhaps some familiar faces and foes from the past will be returning?

@warmachinerocks - Because they were good, at one point. There is a possibility, no matter how slight, that they could be good again. But yeah. I am more excited for the DC Films interpretation of these heroes than I am for Mr. Jump The Shark's TV heroes.

Mark, please dont call it a green arrow tv show.

I think the crossover should be mxyptlyk, he could turn things inside and out between the earths and it would be an interesting watch. Anyone else worried about this season of the flash, I mean, season 3 was okay, like it had its moments, but the rest was iffy, and wasnt as cohesive of a narrative as season 1, so I hope they pick up again in season 4. I just remain kind of skeptical

As for legends and supergirl, they have found a niche audience and embrace the tone that they want to go for, especially lot

Arrow, while good, is not really green arrow, and continues to be discount batman, which I am okay with, so nothing bad on that front. Wb, just dont let berlanti and gugenheim play with the clan storyline, the onomatopoeia, the real count vertigo toys, hold off on those for the dceu and we good

@ConnorHawkeye - I also want a DC Films interpretation of Supergirl. I think they could really give the Post-Crisis Jeph Loeb Supergirl the proper treatment she deserves.

The crossover will be all about Felicity's death, and will rate the highest of anything the CW has ever registered. Then, they will order a special show where Felicity dies in a different way in each in every episode. I'd pay to see that. They could call it Felicity. Oh, wait...
