A Whole Host Of TV Productions Have Been Suspended, Including BATWOMAN, SUPERGIRL, And STRANGER THINGS

Following the news that Disney has pulled the plug on its big screen productions and all upcoming pilots, it's now Netflix and Warner Bros. TV that are feeling the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic...

President Donald Trump has just declared the Coronavirus a "national emergency," and the impact on the entertainment industry is still being felt in a major way. Earlier today, we learned that Disney has hit the pause button on everything from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings to The Little Mermaid, while work on all of their TV pilots has been halted.

Now, The New York Times' John Koblin is reporting that, "Netflix is halting production on all scripted TV series and films in the US and Canada for at least two weeks, two people briefed on the plans tell me. This will affect dozens of shows/movies." Among them is Stranger Things 4

As for Warner Bros. TV, they've announced today that they are "halting production on some of our 70+ series and pilots currently filming or about to begin." While there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 on any of their productions, "the health and safety of our employees, casts and crews remains our top priority." A full list of shows affected by this has not been revealed.

However, thanks to Deadline and TV Line, we know that Batwoman, Lucifer, and Supergirl are among them. Earlier today, it was reported that The Flash's production has been put on hold.

Pennyworth has also been shut down, and this list will more than likely continue to grow.

Right now, we're facing countless delays of TV shows and movies which are currently on the way, and it's too soon to say how much things are going to change moving forward. We could be in for a very quiet few months, though, especially as productions closing down is now becoming the norm.

We'll keep you guys updated.

S*** is nuts!! What a year 2020 turned out to be. The next half of the year has some serious making up to do.

@Lilmanz - I’m still salty that Cyberpunk, The Last of Us, Watch Dogs, Ghost of Tsushima, Final Fantasy 7, Marvel’s Avengers, etc. all got delayed and that was before corona even hit!

@tmp3 - oh yeah, I’m sure the delays will only benefit the games, which is good.

But still, I was so hyped coming into 2020 and now it’s all eroded lol. Feb-May was going to be possibly the most stacked first half of the year in gaming history!

Last of Us, Ori, Gods & Monsters, and Iron Man VR in Feb

Doom Eternal, FF7 Remake, Watch Dogs Legion and Vampire 2 in March

Cyberpunk 2077 and Resident Evil 3 remake in April

Avengers in May

That would’ve been 5 automatic GOTY contenders in the first few months, without even knowing what was coming in the back half of the year yet

@Lilmanz - hey remember how 2019 ended with part 3 of crisis, and that episode had the entire multiverse being destroyed then rebuilt in 2020 but with a bunch of differences? I wonder if that has anything to do with this?

@PicolasCage - The difference between the video game market and the movie/tv industry at least with the video games many people can work at home, to continue to make the games.

But this will impact PS5 and Xbox Series X. I personally won't be surprised to hear we won't get those systems this year, but early 2021 instead.

I guess it is time I dig into my backcatalog and play some Xbox Game Pass games.

Also to let you know if you play online just be prepared for lots of lag, because I've been hearing because of a big increase of traffic both PS4 and Xbox One have been slower online.

Surprised that UK productions haven't been affected yet. Batman's still filming, and Netflix is only suspending their US & Canadian shoots

I hope these people are as financially stable as possible. That’s one of my biggest concerns right now.

Just as Supergirl was shooting it's Season Finale. Not sure how it'll pick up with Melissa's pregnancy advancing, but her health especially now is more important.

Lucifer was also IIRC finishing it's supposedly "final" Season.
