We have some exciting news to kick off 2019 as it's been revealed today that The CW has officially ordered a Batwoman pilot. Starring Orange is the Black's Ruby Rose in the title role, the series is set to follow Kate Kane in Gotham City after her debut in the "Elseworlds" crossover.

Arrow and The Flash veteran David Nutter will be directing the pilot episode for the network.

Slated to premiere later this year, Batwoman will focus on "an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter" who is "primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence."

Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries) penned the pilot episode and will executive produce Batwoman alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns. In other words, there's a lot of great talent here and no reason to believe that it won't end up debuting this fall on The CW.
