Ever since Ruby Rose chose to walk away from the role of Kate Kane in Batwoman, it's felt like we weren't quite getting the full story. While it appeared to be an amicable split, the actress has recalled working through injuries, and some have claimed that a demanding TV schedule (and showing up late to set) simply meant she wasn't a good fit with what The CW expects from its actors.
Well, Rose has finally decided to speak her truth, and this could send shockwaves through Hollywood.
She starts with a series of damning claims about former Warner Bros. Television Studios Chairman Peter Roth. Then, Rose talks about the many injuries she sustained on the set of Batwoman and being forced to return to work after 10 days under threat that the cast and crew would be fired as the studio would lose millions of dollars by not having the show's lead star on hand.
Rose also claims she was forced to share a video with fans saying that she was unable to attend Comic-Con because producers wouldn't change her schedule.
In one final statement, the Batwoman alum makes it clear she will never return to The CW series: "Stop asking if I will return to that awful show, I wouldn't return for any amount of money nor if were a gun put to my head." She also alleges that she was bullied and threatened, claiming a crew member got third-degree burns over his body and that everyone present witnessed the skin falling from his face. A PA was reportedly left a quadriplegic, while Rose says she was very nearly blinded.
Showunner Caroline Dries also comes under fire, as does co-star Dougray Scott. Rose claims that actor hurt a female stunt double and "yelled like a little bitch at women." The actress adds that she was only late once and believes Camrus Johnson (who plays Batwing) has leaked negative information about her to the press. His comments to Rose, if accurate, also sound pretty awful.
There's a lot to unpack here, and it does sound like Rose may have been fired as she claims not to have quit Batwoman. The CW and those named have yet to respond to any allegations.
