David Mazouz Interview Regarding The Road To Batman In GOTHAM

On Gotham, actor David Mazouz portrays the character of Bruce Wayne, who, in the series opener, witnessed his parents' murder, thus putting him on the road to become Batman. In this interview, he emphasizes how season two will allow him to travel down that road even faster.

The irony of course is that Bruce Wayne was originally supposed to play only a small role in the series, but as creator/executive producer Bruno Heller has said, it was Mazouz' acting ability that convinced him that Bruce Wayne should play a more integral role on the show.

Great episode last night. Kane family, Elliot family, and Order of St. Dumas. Good stuff.

The child Bruce Wayne has never been explored at much depth, at least not the way "Gotham" intends on doing it over the course of the series. So far, we see Bruce is a very "different" type of kid, and probably would have been a unique man, even if his parents never met their fate. To me this difference is the reason why Bruce becomes who he eventually becomes, much more so than just the murder of his parents. With the history of his family, so far portrayed on Gotham, Bruce Wayne may have grown up to be a crusader without a costume, if things had been different. I like Mazouz's portrayal.

Some people complain about Gotham as "a Batman show without Batman". The truth of the matter is that all of those kind of heroes ARE first and foremost the person behind the mask. That's one of the reasons I like the much maligned Iron Man 3. It showed that Iron Man is not Tony Stark, but that Tony Stark is Iron Man with, or without the suit. Same goes for most "superheroes" including The Dark Knight. Put on the mask and he's still Bruce Wayne. Take off the mask and he's still Batman.

Clooney was a better Bruce than this kid

C'mon...now you're just being stupid.

I liked this interview, you managed to get some nice bits of info in regards to his character!

"Operation: Good Guys" and the fact that Bruce will be creating his 'playboy' persona this year are very nice tidbits indeed! This show has been really good so far this season!

no, I'm not being blind towards a bad performance

If you're saying Clooney's was a good performance, then you are being blind. Even HE thinks he sucked. And comparing a Child actor to an adult actor is kind of stupid.
