One of Gotham's most feared crime bosses, Sal Maroni, head of the Maroni crime family, has joined the roster of Fox's Batman prequel Gotham, being played by David Zayas! The actor has previously appeared in The Expendables and Dexter and will now play Maroni in the show's first season later this year.
In the comics Maroni was bitter rivals with Carmine Falcone (played by Tom Wilkinson in Batman Begins) and has been repremanded often by the Dark Knight. He was also responsible for the accident that lead to Gotham DA Harvey Dent becoming the villain Two Face, a story arc that Fox's showrunners may pursue.
What do you think of the casting choice, is Zayas a good fit for Maroni? What sort of role would you like to see the crime boss have in the show, should he play a part in the origin of Two Face? Sign off your thoughts below!
"Gotham" is an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”), "Gotham" follows one cop's rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.
