Shocking! Fox has officially ordered a second season of Gotham. The studio made the announcement ealier this morning at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, California.

The Batman-less television show got off to a fast start when it scored the highest-rated premiere for a Fox drama series in 14 years. The rest of its freshman season has been stellar as well, averaging 10.6 million viewers and 4.2 rating in adults 18-49. It is also the top drama among men 18-49 and men 18-34.

Are you glad that Gotham will be back for a second season?

Based upon characters published by DC Entertainment and produced by Warner Bros. Television, GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. Starring Ben McKenzie ("Southland," "The O.C."), Donal Logue ("Sons of Anarchy," "Terriers," "Vikings," "Copper") and Jada Pinkett Smith ("The Matrix" films, "HawthoRNe"), GOTHAM follows one cop's rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time. Executive producer Bruno Heller ("The Mentalist") wrote the pilot, which was directed and executive-produced by Emmy Award nominee Danny Cannon (the "CSI" franchise, "Nikita"). John Stephens will serve as an executive producer on the series.

I actually continued with episode 8 just today, but again it didn't really click with me. I'll watch the episodes until the midseason break over the next week or so, but I don't see me become a regular viewer.

Good news for everyone who enjoys the show a lot, though! (^_^)b

Fox renews shows?? I'm so torn.. If it's renewed, does that mean it's bad? Cause it's supposed to cancel good shows by nature.

Even with how split the show is among comic book fans this shows been getting pretty damn excellent reviews an it's viewer ratings are amazing. I'm excited, even with a few missteps Gotham has kicked ass.

hope season 2 amends season 1 and makes it a more solid show with a big baddy to command forces throughout the season.

Nice. Gotham is easily better than the cw crap. Gotham is great, too bad Constantine won't make it past the 13 episodes though, it was good too.

Never watched it, mainly because it's on Mondays and that's when I see WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW. Plus, a Batman-less Batman show just doesn't intrigue me. I caught a glimpse of it on a Sunday rerun and I was bored. It was the one with Seline Kyle hiding in a bus. Not a fan of Gotham, but congratulations to all you Gothamaniacs out there for getting your show picked up for a 2nd season. 👍

Fox renews Gotham that is not great but got viewers because the network heavily promoted it and put it in a correct time slot. Unlike NBC who didn't promote Constantine and put in in a horrific time slot but want to blame it on because the character is not well known.

Although Gotham is not my cup of tea, Jada Picket Smith and Ben Mckenzie are great in the show.
