We already know when fellow DC Comics shows Arrow and The Flash are returning, now FOX have revealed that Gotham will be back on our screens even sooner. The 'Batman' prequel series will start its sophomore season on Monday, September 21 at 8:00 p.m. ET. This should come as no surprise, having performed very well in the ratings from the same timeslot last year.
Along with the premiere date, FOX also released a short synopsis for the second season, teasing several of the Caped Crusader's famous enemies. Easily the most interesting name present is 'Mr. Freeze' who, while teased by the producers, is yet to make his debut on the show. Cameron Monaghan's 'Jerome Valeska' also looks set to return as the future Clown Prince Of Crime, something that will please fans of his short but memorable appearance on the show.
“The stakes are higher than ever as Gotham explores the origin stories of some of the most ambitious and depraved Super Villains, including The Riddler, The Joker and Mr. Freeze, and Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) uncovers more secrets from his father’s past, in the Season Two debut on Monday, Sept. 21 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).”
Perhaps the most interesting part of this news is that from late-October, Gotham will air directly opposite another DC Comics property in CBS' Supergirl. Given that both are genre shows and will likely appeal to similar audiences,, the competition could potentially hurt both in the ratings. Are you looking forward to Gotham's return? Which of Batman's other rogues would you like to see appear? Drop us your thoughts in the comments below!
