As the fifth and final season of the hit TV series Gotham looms nearer and nearer, which focuses on Bruce Wayne's transformation into Batman as the city descends into a lawless wasteland, marketing is in full swing. Now we have the last official banner, which showcases the season's extensive ensemble cast of heroes and villains while heralding that "The Dark Knight is coming." The cast, shown above, includes (from left to right) Barbara Kean (Erin Richards), Eduardo Dorrance/Bane (Shane West), Edward Nygma/The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith), Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee), Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin), James Gordon (Ben McKenzie), Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk), Jeremiah Valeska/Proto-Joker (Cameron Monaghan), Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), and Selina Kyle/The Cat (Camren Bicondova).
Season 5 will adapt elements from the Batman: No Man's Land and Zero Year comic books, with the series finale jumping ten years into the future to a time where Batman is an established figure. According to showrunner John Stephens, Batman will wear a short-eared matte battlesuit similar to the Dark Knight Rises costume. New villains include Man-Bat, Mother and Orphan, Lady Shiva, Bane, and the Mutant Leader. Bane shares the surname Dorrance with the DC supervillain Sir Edmund Dorrance, his canonical father from the source material. The premiere airs January 3, 2019 on Fox.
