HARLEY QUINN Bites Penguin's Nose Off In Bloody First Look At Season 2 Of The DC Universe Series

Harley (Kaley Cuoco) and The Penguin (Wayne Knight) weren't exactly best buds in the first season of DC Universe's bonkers animated Harley Quinn show, but something tells us The Joker's former former sidekick is going to shoot straight to the top of Oswald's list of enemies in Season 2.

The streaming service has now released a sneak peek at the upcoming second season, and in it we see Penguin gloating over a captive Quinn. Unfortunately for Cobbelpot, he gets a little too close to his prisoner, and loses a prominent appendage in the process.

Season 2's storyline is still under wraps, but the Season 1 finale ended on a cliffhanger when The Joker faked his death and engulfed Gotham City in flames, landing the blame at the feet of Harley and her crew. We do know that Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2, Frida) will join the fray as Mister Freeze, while Sanaa Lathan (The Affair, Family Guy) will provide the voice of Catwoman.

The returning voice cast includes Lake Bell (Children’s Hospital) as Poison Ivy, Alan Tudyk (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) as Joker, Ron Funches (Powerless) as King Shark, JB Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm) as Frank the Plant, Jason Alexander (Seinfeld) as Sy Borgman, Wanda Sykes (Black-ish) as Queen of Fables, Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) as Lex Luthor, Jim Rash (Mike Tyson Mysteries) as Riddler, Diedrich Bader (Veep) as Batman, Tony Hale (Arrested Development, Veep) as Dr. Psycho, and Chris Meloni (Happy!) as Commissioner Gordon.

The first episode of Harley Quinn Season 2 will premiere on DC Universe on April 3.

Off topic, but I finally got around to watching Birds of Prey the other night. It was surprisingly really good. Big shame it ain’t doing so hot.

@PlusUltra - What did you like about it? I thought it was more style > substance.

Did anyone need to see this? It's not that funny, just gross. Its not even dark humour really

This show probably has my favorite take on Poison Ivy ever. The animation is also really good, and surprisingly smooth compared to the choppy animation of the new 52 animated films, except whenever there's blood; they always use some pre-rendered squib effect and it looks so out of place all the time.

This could have gone in a totally different direction from the picture. Maybe I should get out more

@lawndart - Well it's a bit of a misleading title😂

Ew.

I have mixed feelings about this show. At its best, it’s a bit shy of the villain side of the Venture Bros., which is plenty entertaining, but the use of existing characters makes it feel less imaginative, layered and original.

But as with the Venture Bros., I feel like the title character just isn’t all that entertaining. Luckily with the VB, those characters aren’t nearly as aggressively the center of the show as with Harley, who doesn’t really work for me. I’m mostly left wondering if Poison Ivy, who is a legitimately entertaining character in this, could maybe make a new friend instead and we could hang out with her.

We’ll see if season 2 can improve that, although this clip doesn’t do much for me... the show could easily slip into the trap of using shocking actions in place of actual jokes or storytelling.

Fantastic, but I just feel like Harley is WAY too overpowered compared to the comics.

They're giving her Spider-Man level acrobatic feats and Batman level combat feats.

She takes down mob guys and assassins like they're nothing. We never feel like she's in any real danger, ever.
It's kinda jarring for me and impairs my enjoyment of this otherwise amazing series.

That's why my favorite parts were the non-action bits - and Poison Ivy of course.

@MaximusTheMad -
In the comics, thanks to Ivy, Harley has preternatural strength and reflexes.

Newman! And by the way Joker didn't "fake his death", he was thrown into a barrel of acid by Harley and Ivy 🙄
