With Peacemaker's premiere fast approaching, HBO Max has released a new clip from James Gunn's The Suicide Squad spinoff.
Here we see Christopher Smith (John Cena) meeting his new teammates while being briefed on his mission by Clemson Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji), who tells him he can either comply or go back to Belle Reve to finish out his sentence. Oh, and just in case he's thinking of running, that bomb Amanda Waller had implanted in his skull is still very much active.
In addition, Gunn has taken to Twitter to share another look at Nhut Le as Judomaster, who was briefly glimpsed doing battle with Peacemaker and Vigilante in the most recent trailer. Several different characters have taken the mantle of Judomaster in the comics, and all have been heroic - so it's probably understandable that he finds himself on opposing sides to Smith!
Though specific plot details had been under wraps up until recently, the new trailer gave us a much better idea of what to expect from the show, as Cena's unhinged vigilante is recruited by A.R.G.U.S. to "save the f*cking world" from a mysterious group known as The Butterflies. We're still not sure exactly who or what these seemingly monstrous individuals are, but there's speculation that they may somehow be tied to The Suicide Squad's big bad, Starro.
Peacemaker is set to premiere on the HBO Max streaming service on January 13. Do you guys plan on checking this one out?
