STARGIRL: Obsidian Strikes In The New Promo For Season 3, Episode 8; "Infinity Inc. Part Two"

Stargirl continued its excellent third season last night with the first half of an action-packed two-parter that ended on a big twist as we saw some of our heroes transported to the Shadow Lands, while the rest were left to deal with the newly freed Obsidian (Tim Gabriel).

Having finally reunited with his twin sister Jennie (Ysa Penarejo), it didn't take long for Todd's secret to come out as he - like his twin sister - is also full of unimaginable power, except his power remains in an unrefined state and is very likely a possible danger to the entire world.

With Courtney (Brec Bassinger) and company caught off guard, Pat (Luke Wilson) and The Shade (Jonathan Cake) found themselves transported to the mysterious Shadow Lands, leaving us with a huge cliffhanger heading into next week.

Check out the new promo for episode eight, titled "Frenemies - Chapter Eight: Infinity Inc. Part Two," below:

Brec Bassinger headlines the series as Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl, with a supporting main cast featuring Yvette Monreal as Yolanda Montez/Wildcat, Anjelika Washington as Beth Chapel/Dr. Mid-Nite, Cameron Gellman as Rick Tyler/Hourman, Trae Romano as Mike Dugan, Hunter Sansone as Cameron Mahkent, Neil Hopkins as Larry Crock, Joy Osmanski as Paula Brooks, Amy Smart as Barbara Whitmore, Meg DeLacy as Cindy Burman/Shiv, Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan/S.T.R.I.P.E., and Joel McHale as Sylvester Pemberton/Starman.

Keith David voices this season's big bad Mister Bones, while Jonathan Cake (Richard Swift/The Shade), Ysa Penarejo (Jennie-Lynn Hayden), Stella Smith (Artemis Crock), Alkoya Brunson (Jakeem Williams), Tim Gabriel (Todd Rice/Obsidian), and Seth Green (Thunderbolt) are set to appear this season in recurring roles.

"Frenemies - Chapter Eight: Infinity Inc. Part Two" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, V) (HDTV)

DEMONS FROM THE PAST - Desperate to avert a major crisis on their hands, Courtney (Brec Bassinger) attempts to help a friend navigate their powers. Elsewhere, Pat (Luke Wilson) and The Shade (guest star Jonathan Cake) are forced to face their worst fears. Amy Smart and Trae Romano also star. Glen Winter directed the episode written by Paula Sevenbergen & Robbie Hyne (#308). Original airdate 10/26/2022.

That was an eventful and full of development episode in a lot of fronts. I like it when they do two-parters.

Flashback all the way back to Season 2's early episodes revealed not just Jennie awoke her GL powers when she found Alan Scott's ring but so did her brother all the way in Civic City at the same time. Their light and shadow powers are connected, which makes me think if both of their characters were back then created as maybe DC's own Cloak and Dagger sans the romantic bond because they're family.

Mr. Bones finally appeared again and he looks even more alive and polished than in S2's finale. Almost real within the show or just really but really streamlined. And being voiced by none other than Keith David is great.

And with him back into the story it's starting to look like he might not exactly be the one watching over Blue Valley. But whoever it is must be connected to Helix, no point then in doing a puzzle of Bones' face himself then. The mystery of who this person is just gets deeper. He or she does come with a heavy breathing though and doesn't seem to wear the same clothes Bones does.

Yolanda finally left her house after being done with her mom's distrust and found shelter in Courtney's house. Once she's back there is a make up hug to take place then I guess, but good for her since her home was too toxic for her own good.

Most of the cameras have been destroyed thanks to the blackout, which pissed off the watcher. I wonder what's his/her/their plan B now.

Jakeem's next wishes should be better and stronger after Zeeke told him to have more faith in his drive when he does it. It's similar to how Court has been teaching Cameron to control his ice powers though, with that said I missed him in this episode. The Crocks too and even, kinda-ish, Cindy too. But I guess she retreated underground again to the old ISA HQ.

Beth's concerned with Rick abusing his unlimited super strength is unanimous. He's too roided on the Miraclo and it's gonna have get ugly soon if something isn't done.

And never expected to see a frenemy dynamic between The Shade and Jennie of all people, they're hilarious. And she's right to be angry with him just like how Sylvester has a feud for his role, even small, in the dead of the JSA and her father, OG Green Lantern.

But the reveal of how their powers were tangled because of that scene from 2x12 where her ring absorbed the residue of dark energy from Eclipso was unexpected but good, it proves how the show doesn't do things just for the sake of it and also that certain events can carry on in huge ways into future storylines.

Exorcising Shade's darkness from her ring to sever her link to the Shadowlands so both can be back at 100% is easier said than done, yet it's the right kind of trippy comic book trouble that fits this show a lot.

Todd's shadow form in the end looked very Obsidian-esque to how it's in the comics. Really hope he can done his suit one day.

Now it's time for Pat to get a taste of the Shadowlands just like how Courtney did last year in Season 2.
