The Kevin Smith-helmed episode of
The Flash aired last night, and the director himself had a few things to tease about the show's upcoming season finale, along with his guest, Teddy Sears (Hunter Zolomon/Zoom). While unable to reveal exact details, Smith promised a finale worthy of a table-flip.
"Aside from the script that I did, the Zack Stentz script, which is emotionally wonderful, but they teased two things, well they didn't tease, I was there on set, but the breakdown of what the last two episodes are, and there was something that happened in the episode right after mine where I was like, and it involves you in a big bad way, that I was like ahhhhh *slams the table*, ahhhhhh *pretends to flip it over*, like I wished that I was directing it because it is mad genius."
Smith added that it feels as if
The Flashs' creative team is holding nothing back with the final few episodes.
"That's what this feels like, like it felt, not like writing like we're running out of time "aww s*** we're up against it", just throw anything down. It is definitely plotted, and they made a really kind of like bold choice where you're almost like, again kind of like what Teddy said earlier, how do you go to season 3? But they must've had a conversation, where like if we're going to do this we must, what happens when we land because the jump is glorious." One of the big revelations is set to be the identity of the man in the iron mask; Sears promised in an earlier interview that the finale will finally reveal who is imprisoned in Zoom's lair.
Sears also agreed that there needed to be a good reason for whatever bold creative choice is about to take place, otherwise, the gesture is meaningless.
"The jump is glorious, but if you don't have something to land on then why jump, ya know? Then the jump is a gimmick ya know, but it is so not. They so have it nicely figured out, I think, for where to launch season 3."
