So far, we've only seen a brief teaser promo for The Sandman, and fans of Neil Gaiman's seminal DC Comics series have been eagerly awaiting a look at some more footage from Netflix's upcoming adaptation.

We might be waiting a little longer (okay, quite a bit longer) for that trailer, but in the meantime, EW has shared a new official still featuring Tom Sturridge as the titular Dream Lord.

We don't have any context for the image, but since Morpheus is holding his signature helm (crafted from the skull and spine of a god, doncha know), there's a chance he's just reclaimed it from a certain demon in Hell.

A premiere date has yet to be announced, but there are whispers that a full trailer could debut during Geeked Week on June 6.

The Sandman also stars Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Game of Thrones alum Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, Logan actor Boyd Holbrook as sadistic escaped nightmare The Corinthian, Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as black magician Roderick Burgess, and Asim Chaudhry (Black Mirror) and Sanjeeve Bhaskar (Yesterday) as Abel and Cain, respectively.

We recently learned that Desire and Despair will be played by Mason Alexander Park and Donna Preston, respectively, while Joely Richardson will play Ethel Cripps, and David Thewlis will take on the role of her son John Dee, aka the deranged Dr. Destiny. Jenna Coleman will play John Constantine's great-great-great grandmother, Lady Johanna Constantine.

The 11-episode first season of The Sandman is expected to adapt the first arc of the Vertigo comics series, "Preludes and Nocturnes."

With so many Netflix shows dropping trailers and release dates, I was kinda expecting one for this to be dropped too. For some reason I already thought we get it in december, and I've been waiting since.

@dracula - yeah, I know, but since Netflix its on the verge of bankruptcy, why not?
After all HBO MAX its supposed to be the home of everything DC
(even if there still is a lot of stuff missing)
Or otherwise, HBO MAX should wise up and buy this for the cheap

@NicolausCopernicus - But netflix isn't on the verge of bankruptcy, they still make about 2 - 3 billion a month. Def running into some problems but its not like moviepass where several people are cancelling all at once.

If anything Hbomax will start selling netflix their shows as the new Discovery CEO isn't so keen on investing much money into streaming.

@AndrewHolland - I wonder if the show will use effects to give his eyes that otherworldly 'stars in pools of pitch' look as described by Gaiman, or enhance his voice?

I dunno man, it just looks… bland? Like if you told me this was Morpheus, I wouldn’t believe you. He just looks like any other emo white dude. Which, granted, Morpheus IS, but they could have at least painted him white or something. He looks too human, I guess is my point. Hell, paint him white like I said, give him black contacts, and dye his hair black, and boom.

Crazy this show is actually happening. I feel like it's been talked about for so many years. Hope Netflix does it justice.

This.... looks.... awful.. I can't believe they're going to ruin my favorite comic. I know I'm jumping the gun but everything from the casting to the costume design is awful.

I don't like the looks of the characters, but Neil Gaiman is the showrunner, so I'm it will great.

Desire and Death are the only characters that look comic accurate.
