A brief video from the set of Netflix's The Sandman has been shared online, giving us a glimpse of Tom Sturridge as the eponymous Lord of Dreams.

The recent behind-the-scenes sneak peek did unveil some concept art featuring the character, but this is our first live-action look at the Being Julia actor as Morpheus.

Here, Dream is wearing the all-black outfit he dons when he visits the waking world. Sturridge looks pale, but doesn't appear to have the alabaster-white skin of his comic book counterpart. To be fair, that does make sense if he's supposed to be passing for human.

Check out the video below, and find out who'll be joining Sturridge as part of the main cast right here.

The 11-episode first season of The Sandman is expected to adapt the first arc of the Vertigo comics series, "Preludes and Nocturnes," which finds Dream captured by a black magician and held prisoner for the better part of a century. When he finally escapes, he sets about recovering three very important items, encountering Lucifer, John Constantine, Doctor Destiny, Martian Manhunter and more on his travels.

The official logline reads: "A rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend are seamlessly interwoven, The Sandman follows the people and places affected by Morpheus, the Dream King, as he mends the cosmic — and human — mistakes he's made during his vast existence."

Neil Gaiman developed the show along with David S. Goyer and Allan Heinberg. No premiere date has been set.
