While to speaking to Collider about the series finale of Chuck, actor Zachary Levi was asked about his future plans, including his involvement with the adaptation of Y: The Last Man.

QUESTION: With Chuck ending, are you going to be able to do the Y: The Last Man movie now?

LEVI: I wish. That movie is in production limbo. At least, every time I’ve checked on it, it’s in production limbo. Jeff Katz at New Line grabbed it, and then when Warner Bros. gobbled up New Line, so it’s just been sitting there. I don’t know. That’s a dream role.

Y: The Last Man is a comic book series by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra published by Vertigo beginning in 2002. The series is about the only man to survive the apparent simultaneous death of every male mammal (barring the same man's pet monkey) on Earth. The series was published in sixty issues by Vertigo and collected in a series of ten paperback volumes (and later a series of five hardcover "Deluxe" volumes). The series' covers were primarily by J. G. Jones and Massimo Carnevale. The series received five Eisner Awards.

Originally, the film adaption was to be directed by D. J. Caruso with David S. Goyer serving as producer, and Caruso rewriting a script penned by Vaughan. The entire comic series was to be broken up into three films. Caruso planned to use a real monkey, and not a CGI construct, to play Ampersand. Caruso also said he would like to have Alicia Keys for the part of Agent 355. Zachary Levi has previously expressed interest in playing Yorick as he is a fan of the comic book series, even going as far as having his character Chuck Bartowski read the Y: The Last Man graphic novel in an episode in Season 3. Caruso went on to make the dismal, I Am Number Four before ultimately walking away from the project. Louis Letterier (The Incredible Hulk)has stated that he would like to adapt the series for television. Shia LaBeouf has also been rumored for the lead role but that was primarily due to his relationship with Caruso who he worked with on Disturbia and Eagle Eye. With Caruso off the project, it's unlikely LaBeouf will sign on to the project having previously expressed disinterest.

Ya know...at first, "Y: The Last Man" seemed kinda lame...like Chuck. But now that I read that little preview, I think I'm gonna read it. That tickled my funny bone a little bit.

I like levi. But he seems a little old for the role.
Who else thinks jamie bell could rock it though?

Better as a TV series than a movie.

Wow I didn't even know Levi was linked to the role, but I can honestly see him as Yorick.

This would definitely be a better tv series than a movie. Either way: IF U HAVE NOT READ THIS BUY ALL 10 TRADES NOW AND READ THEM. EASILY THE BEST COMIC BOOK IN THE LAST 10 YEARS.

I agree with brewtown. I bought the first trade hoping for an okay read, and ended up buying the rest the very next day. Awesome series. And unless they are planning on making 3 films minimum, I would rather see it as a series on Showtime.

I heard a little about this graphic novel, sounds like an interesting story.

I'm bummed about Chuck ending this Friday. Five years(two and a half years; didn't watch it until S3) of secret agent heroics.

I hope he is involved with the movie once it gets back on track.

I will be pleased if this movie never gets made. This particular comic represents everything I hate about modern comics, i.e. political ideology saturating the pages. Can't we just go back to stories being nothing more than stories. Oh by the way Chuck sucks to!

Y pulled me back in to comics. Easily one of the best stories of the genre.

Just finished reading all the Graphic Novels and there is way too much for this to be just one movie...Unless it is a Trilogy of movies or a TV Series it will be to rushed in just one movie...
