Ian McShane (John Wick) joining the cast of Game Of Thrones season six certainly came as a bit of a surprise, especially considering that he's one of the bigger names to ever join the cast. Rumors have circulated for months regarding who he may be playing with Randyll Tarly and Aeron Greyjoy being early favorites, however, those early rumors were all quickly debunked when an Entertainment Weekly report revealed that his character had a relatively small amount of screen time, but was of the utmost importance.

In a recent interview with Pop Goes The News, McShane corroborated the EW report saying: "It's a one-off episode, that's why I did it," and then was coerced into sharing one vague hint about his mystery role: "I am responsible for bringing somebody back that you think you’re never going to see again. I’ll leave it at that." Now, the obvious answer here is, of course, Jon Snow, but with Melisandre rumored to be a part of his resurrection as well as a variety of other factors, it's more likely than not that the 73-year-old McShane is referring to someone else.

Watchers On The Wall, using the books as a guide, offered their most educated guess and said that he may be referring to either the Hound or Lady Stoneheart, who are both characters we haven't seen in quite sometime. Adding fuel to the fire, Rory McCann (Hot Fuzz), who played Sandor Clegane, was recently spotted in Belfast at a hotel frequented by the Game Of Thrones cast and Michelle Fairley (24: Live Another Day), who played Catelyn Stark, has been long-rumored to be in Belfast at a variety of points throughout the season six shooting schedule.

So, what do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne continues.

It stretches from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues, to the vast and savage eastern lands, where a young queen raises an army. All the while, in the frozen north, an 800-foot wall of ice precariously protects the war-ravaged kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men...all play the 'Game of Thrones.'

An original series based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series.
