WESTWORLD Returns On June 26; First Season 4 Trailer Features Some Surprising Faces

HBO dropped a surprise trailer for the fourth season of Westworld last night, along with the announcement that the acclaimed sci-fi drama series is set to return to our screens on June 26.

Set to Lou Reed's "Perfect Day," the footage brings us up to speed with the show's main characters, who all appear to have returned to some semblance of normality following the chaotic events of the season 3 finale.

Of course, nothing is ever quite as it seems with this show, and as the trailer gets more than a little unnerving, it becomes clear that some of our beleaguered protagonists still have "violent ends" to come.

Season 3 appeared to wrap up the current storyline, with Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood) sacrificing herself to ensure the survival of her people. However, Dolores looks set to return along with the likes of Maeve Millay (Thandiwe Newton), Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright), Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson), and Caleb Nichols (Aaron Paul).

Even more surprisingly, it looks like "The Man in Black" (Ed Harris) also survived - although there's always a chance we're seeing another Host body here.

Plot details remain a mystery for now. We do have a brief logline, but all it tells us is that season 4 of Westworld will be “a dark odyssey about the fate of sentient life on earth.”
