After unveiling the official poster for Westworld season four at their ATX TV Festival panel yesterday, HBO brought out original cast member James Marsden (X-Men; Sonic the Hedgehog) to announce that he's coming back to the acclaimed HBO series in a major recurring role.

Details are being kept under lock and key, but we can probably safely assume that he'll be playing a new character this season instead of reprising his original role as Teddy Flood, who tragically killed himself in season two after realizing that Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) had altered his programming. His conscious mind was later uploaded to The Sublime.

Marsden, who is coming in hot after the blockbuster success of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, rejoins fellow returning cast members Evan Rachel Wood (Christina), Ed Harris (William/The Man in Black), Thandiwe Newton (Maeve Millay), Aaron Paul (Caleb Nichols), Tessa Thompson (Charlotte Hale), Jeffrey Wright (Bernard Lowe), Luke Hemsworth (Ashley Stubbs), and Angela Sarafyan (Clementine Pennyfeather).

Newcomers to the cast include Aurora Perrineau, Ariana DeBose, Daniel Wu, and Lili Simmons.

Westworld season four will consist of eight episodes, with its season premiere set for June 26.

OT: who's watching Hell In A Cell tonight?
BigPhilbowski - 6/5/2022, 5:41 PM
@UGLYsonic - apparently Cody's injured. Taking time off after tonight
UGLYsonic - 6/5/2022, 10:29 PM
@BigPhilbowski - damn that blows. Cody is my favorite WWE wrestler right now since he returned. Both CM Punk and now Cody out due to injury. That's unfortunate. I hope they both recover quickly. The main event is up next!
UGLYsonic - 6/5/2022, 10:40 PM
@BigPhilbowski - omg he just showed his chest. Jesus christ! They should have canceled the match. This is hard to watch.
BigPhilbowski - 6/6/2022, 2:50 AM
@UGLYsonic - just seeing it now. Staying up til 5am isn't fun just for a PPV. Holy shit. Thr bruising is insane. Guess it's definitely a torn pec. Don't know how he worked a 30min match with one arm
UGLYsonic - 6/6/2022, 3:19 AM
@BigPhilbowski - yeah he's definitely gonna be out several month judging from the severity. If I remember correctly Triple H was out for 8 months of recovery.

dragon316 - 6/6/2022, 7:20 AM
@UGLYsonic - haven’t watched wrestling since attitude era is no more tried getting back into it once I saw new age with unicorn headbands on there beads yeah time stop watching
dragon316 - 6/6/2022, 7:21 AM
@UGLYsonic - he’s still wrestling being boss he is now on raw didn’t expect be in ring again
Reeds2Much - 6/5/2022, 5:08 PM
Is Ramin Djawadi returning? He's the MVP of the show.
jj2112 - 6/6/2022, 1:16 PM
@Reeds2Much - He's great. Few people know that he started writing music for classic games such as Thief, System Shock and Gears of War.
HeavyMetal4Life - 6/5/2022, 5:12 PM
I hope that this season is better, because the third season was the weakest one so far and they ended up undercutting and erasing a lot of the growth and potential and ideology the series had created. Especially after that disappointing season 3 finale.
Cap1 - 6/5/2022, 5:21 PM
@HeavyMetal4Life - It fell apart soon as the writers tried outsmarting the redditors who outsmarted them in S2 instead of embracing the fact they cared so much as to figure it all out (which is a good thing)
Rosraf - 6/5/2022, 8:40 PM
@Cap1 - Oh, so they "Lost" it.
UGLYsonic - 6/6/2022, 2:10 AM
@HeavyMetal4Life - I'm waiting for confirmation this show ends with a satisfying enough final chapter. I'm tired of being strung along by great concepts that fall to pieces at the finish line.
UGLYsonic - 6/6/2022, 2:15 AM
@Cap1 - yeah I never understood the impulse to subvert expectations at any cost. If you have a great mystery, the fun part is sussing out clues and theorizing. When we are correct, that should be rewarded and praised, and so long as it's satisfyingly executed, it's perfectly fine to have fans guess correctly. It's when you try to trick the fans with cheap and unsatisfying tactics that we lose trust in the process and the people making the mysteries.

I watched season 1 and enjoyed it but honestly haven't had a desire to go back just yet. If I hear this show ends with thunderous applause, I'll go back. But I can't handle another Dexter, Lost and Game of Thrones.
MrDandy - 6/5/2022, 5:15 PM
Westworld’s first season is some of the best television produced but the followup seasons are messes that fail to live up to the original. Luckily season 1 works really well (probably better) as a stand-alone.

Maybe this season will recapture season 1 quality…but I’m doubtful.
HeavyMetal4Life - 6/5/2022, 5:19 PM
@MrDandy - I actually prefer season 2, I understand why many had issues with it, but I loved the complexity. To me it just elevated what they did in season 1.
GhostDog - 6/5/2022, 5:16 PM
Season 3 was a dump. Hoping this is wear better.
Cap1 - 6/5/2022, 5:19 PM
I don't remember much of S3, but Aaron Paul's meant to be the leader of a revolution right? (correct me if not). Don't get me wrong, I like him, but he's not a lead guy, never mind the leader of a revolution. Woefully miscast, rest of the series buckled under that
EnergyVamp - 6/5/2022, 6:52 PM
This show was so up its own ass that it failed to connect to a wider audience. Game of Thrones had both the complexity for prestige TV fans but also had so much that appealed to the average audience like epic battles, special effects, nudity, but relatable characters and good humor.

Westworld is so soulless. The best and most emotional character was Ghost Nation. Heck, even young William was a good hero to follow but without a white hat, this show is difficult to relate too especially rooting for robots to kill humans. Relying on twist endings and reveals that reddit can solve after 3-4 episodes is not very engaging if everything else around it is all superficial and no substance.
Floke - 6/5/2022, 7:04 PM
So this, but no S3 of Raised By Wolves... Dammit! It was such a weird, unsettling and strange series. I really enjoyed it.
globaltravels - 6/7/2022, 12:35 PM
@Floke - canceled? Or no announcement ?
Blergh - 6/5/2022, 7:44 PM
Teddy brought some much needed humanity into the world of the show, hope his new character can replicate that as it was sorely missing from season 3.
Canon108 - 6/5/2022, 9:17 PM
Season 3 was pretty good until the final...they could've gone full blade runner, and they botched the ending wasting Vincent Cassel in the process.
