AGENT CARTER: Are These The Supporting Characters We'll See In The Show?

We know Marvel's upcoming tv series will focus on the Agent of the title, Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter, but which other characters will be joining her? The website Film Divider reckon they know, so click on to find out for yourselves..

Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return September 23rd, and set to bridge the gap while its on Winter hiatus is Agent Carter, which will see Hayley Atwell reprise her role from both Captain America: The First Avenger and the succeeding Marvel "One Shot". We knew that the show will be set in and around the time that one shot, but we didn't know who else we can expect to see join Peggy in the events leading up to the formation of S.H.I.E.L.D. Well, now Film Divider have some names for us.

Deputy Director Roger Hooley is a hardworking, principled older man and Peggy’s boss. As you might expect, he’s bothered by ongoing problems in his personal life as well as the challenges of his day job.

Agent Jack Thompson is in his 30s, handsome and damn well knows it. The polar opposite of Dooley, he doesn’t take kindly to women in the workplace, nor how little recognition he gets. Worse, he wants Dooley’s job and is desperate to prove himself.

Edward Hutchins is a highly professional agent with an unusual problem; duplicity. He’s lying to his wife about what he does to stop her worrying. True Lies, SHIELD style.

Daniel Sousa is everything Jack Thompson wants to be. He’s a war hero who walks using a leg brace, but finds dealing with office politics to be harder than working around his injury. Sousa is also a fiercely honourable, gentle man and we’re betting he becomes one of Peggy’s major allies.

And outside of the agency, there’s Angie Martinelli. Working as an automat waitress, Angie dreams of being a singer. She’s a tough, compassionate young woman who is smart and loyal and seems set to be Peggy’s anchor to the world away from SHIELD.

I'm not too well up on my classic Marvel lore, but I don't recognize any of those names as being established comic book characters -- though aside from possibly some of the remaining Howling Commandos, I'm not sure exactly who could have been utilized for this time period anyway. There's no mention of any villains (though that Thompson fella doesn't sound particularly nice!) yet, so I'm sure we'll have more character announcements to come. In the meantime, what do you guys think?

I really want this to focus on the rise of SHIELD and how HYDRA begins to take over. I don't think we'll get exactly that though.

Jack Thomspon will be HYDRA.

Yeah I agree. Rise or SHIELD and infiltration of HYDRA would be great. I wanted Agents of SHIELD to heavily involve Maria Hill and set up C list heroes and villains in the MCU. Or even something along the lines of a SHIELD strike team, but oh well.

Are any of them from comic books? Or again boring new characters like in "Agents of SH!T"?

I also heard of two other characters, Man on Elevator and Woman in Restaurant #2. I think there might be a Woman in Restaurant #1 too.

I really hope this show hints at the SHIELD vs HYDRA arc, and we see Golden age heroes and villains!

I find the lack of Hayley Atwell pictures problematic...

AbaryMan, that could make for a very short series. I'm still not sure why they are doing this show. I'll watch to see what its about though.

@Comedian03

I think AOS and AGENT CARTER are basically one-shots, so the more generic the backdrop the easier to shoehorn in any villain-or-hero-of-the-week.

That reads more negative than I intended...Think of X-FILES and how it was basically an anthology horror/sci-fi series with recurring main characters.

That should be "AOS and AGENT CARTER are basically *weekly* one-shots"

No Fontaine?
No Howard Stark?
How disappointing.
I was hoping he'd be her "Q."

This show gives women the ridiculous idea that there's more to life than sex and cooking.

I hope this is better than AOS.
I'm not sure why they felt Peggy needed a show.

We need the Howling Commandos and Howard Stark.
ChiliConCarney

I can see Howard Stark, Arnim Zola and Dum Dum Dugan showing up occasionally. Don't be surprised (and/or disappointed) if this has another slow start like ABC's other MCU show. Hopefully, Peg will pick up the pace just as well.
