"Marvel's Agent Carter," starring Captain America's Hayley Atwell follows the story of Peggy Carter. It's 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life--Steve Rogers. Inspired by the feature films "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," along with the short "Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter." Starring Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter, "Marvel's Agent Carter" is executive produced by Christopher Markus, Steve McFeely, Tara Butters, Michele Fazekas, Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, Jeph Loeb.

Out of all the female characters in the Marvel universe, why does Agent Carter get her own show?

I think every episode should begin with her taking a bath.
A slow motion sponge bath. Right?

This will be a fantastic way to further develop the Captain America side of the MCU, since he is the only case where we cannot go back and visit these characters in any other way since Cap is now in present day.

I really do love that accent. Plus the fact that she's extremely [frick]ing hot helps. Haha!

This show has some interesting possibilities. We'll definitely see the early days of SHIELD, and hopefully we'll see how HYDRA managed to get a foothold in it.

At first Ii wanted the Winter Soldier to appear in Agents of SHIELD, but now I want him to appear in THAT show ! Maybe he can appear in both ? In a storyline in the past that impacts on some events in the present, a kind of crossover that spans the ages.

"YOU GUYS NEED TO APPRECIATE AoS- THERES NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVEEERRRRRRRRR BEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT!!! LIKE EV-ER!!! A MOVIE SERIES AND COMPANION TV SERIES THAT ALL INTERCONNECT AND AFFECT ONE ANOTHER!! THATS NNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRR HAPPENED BEFORE !! "

except, when it was STAR TREK. ten original cannon films, and five separate TV series (as well as a cartoon series) with as many as TWO series running concurrently with the FILMS and all inter-connected and affecting one another, now with a side-cannon of a parallel timeline.

but other than that MCU invented the concept.

@Mecha She's one of the best female protagonists in these films, apart from Black Widow.

@Mecha - I'm thinking it's because of the events that surround her along with ones that she's part of such as the creation of SHIELD. Also we get to see other characters such as Howard Stark, the Howling Commandos and Armin Zola. Seeing how Zola infiltrated SHIELD is going to be one of the bonus' of this series.

8 episodes isnt as bad as I thought it would be, I really dont get the point of this show. the origin of the MCU doesnt interest me. Really, the only draw of this show is Hayley, she is an awesome actress, badass and utterly gorgeous. But apart from that, give her a two-parter during every season of AOS (connect a present day case into the past) and that will do. I mean, they cant even use any half interesting characters, because they will be saving them for the movies or for AOS

I hope Im proved wrong but I honestly think there should be a new Marvel series during the mid-season break of AOS every year. This year is Agent Carter, next year is something else....keep going until AOS is cancelled.

@sameoldthing, please say youre a producer on this show and youre fishing for ideas haha because I agree 200%!

My only problem with Hayley Atwell, is that she keeps ignoring all of my invitations to dinner.

This struck me more as a mini series, didn't think there'd be enough interesting material to make an Agent Carter show go on for several seasons.

@Jor-L

To echo @ThePowerCosmic's comment, we're talking Comic Book properties, not Gene Roddenberry.

And for ODIN's sake, although you're not the only one who does this on this site, the word is C A N O N . I know it SOUNDS like a weapon used in the Revolutionary War, but it's SPELLED differently.

Sorry, but for a word that's SO essential when talking about Comic Books, it drives me CRAZY to see so many people use that word so often on this site and misspell it so much.

Love Hayley/Peggy! Will definitely watch and wish she could be a part of the present MCU to save us from her basic grand niece.

8 episodes? That doesn't show much confidence on the part of ABC.
I think this show could be better than AOS, they should have given it at least 13.

Star trek shows never directly affected the movies or vice versa. The closest was DS9 that aired when First Contact was released. Worf showed up in both but neither had any affect on the other.

A better example is X-Files with the movie coming out between seasons and being essential to the series' plot.

Neither had a movie or movies released while the show aired with plots actually weaving together.
