UPDATE: Enver Gjokaj & Chad Michael Murray Join AGENT CARTER

In the first bit of casting news (aside from Hayley Atwell of course) for Marvel's upcoming Agent Carter tv series, THR report that Dollhouse alum Enver Gjokaj has joined the show as Agent Daniel Sousa. More past the jump.

Enver Gjokaj

After appearing as "young cop" in The Avengers, Enver Gjokaj will return to the Marvel Universe, this time with a much larger role in the upcoming Agent Carter tv series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gjokaj will play Agent Daniel Sousa, who "will meet Carter while she takes on a new role at the pre-SHIELD Strategic Scientific Reserve in New York City." Apparently the show will be set seven years after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger, and will focus on Peggy Carter as she struggles to adapt to life after losing Steve Rogers, all the while carrying out "secret missions" for Howard Stark. Gjokai is best known for playing Victor in Joss Whedon's Dollhouse, but he's also appeared in the likes of The Walking Dead, Dexter and Witches of East End. Captain America: Winter Soldier directors Anthony and Joe Russo will helm episodes two and three of the series, with the first film's director Joe Johnson rumoured to return to helm ep 4.

UPDATE: Marvel now also report that Chad Michael Murray (Fruitvale Station, One Tree Hill) has been cast in the role of SSR Agent Jack Thompson. They've also released the official synopsis for the show.

Marvel's Agent Carter," starring "Captain America's" Hayley Atwell, follows the story of Peggy Carter. It's 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life--Steve Rogers.

This guy was probably my favourite thing about Dollhouse (apart from Alan Tudyk's appearances). I remember him being really likable and talented, and I think I haven't seen him in anything ever after Dollhouse.

So yeah, glad he's in the MCU now! (didn't notice he was in Avengers)

"Apparently the show will be set seven years after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger" ... Where did that come from? All the news are still talking about 1946, roughly a year after the end of CA:TFA.

Yeah there's a lot of weirdness with the dates they've been mentioning. Seven years seems excessive. I'm betting it's seven months. Although I think they should go for something like 4 years. That way it would be 1950. A new decade beginning, the Cold War going into full swing, communist China in place, and the war in Korea just kicking in. That would be a fun backdrop to set it in.

"Amanda Righetti was at the end of Captain America"

I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who thought that was Scarlett Johannson dressed pin-up style when I first saw that. It would've been another cool cameo at the end of The First Avenger...but I guess it makes sense that Black Widow would be off doing more important things, rather than trying to fool Steve haha.

Well then, I suppose it'd make total sense for her to show up in AoS. Dunno about bringing her all the way back to 1946 though.
