It looks like Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. still had a trick or two left up its sleeve as it's just been revealed that series regular Elizabeth Henstridge is the director behind next week's episode, which is titled "As I Have Always Been" and is the ninth installment in this thirteen-episode final season.

The episode is one of the most high-concept of the year as the team will find themselves trapped in a time storm, with Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Daisy (Chloe Bennet) seemingly being the only two that realize what's happening.

As for the big elephant in the room, Henstridge is keeping all Fitz-related details close to the chest, but she does promise fans it won't be too long before they learn about his mysterious whereabouts. “There are so many questions. So yes, we’re going to find out where he is and why, and some of that information is going to come from Jemma. We’ll find out more in the next episode about that. And some of the information about where he is and why will come directly from Fitz. That’s all I can say!”

Really looking forward to this episode, think it could be a great one as these storylines/scenarios are typically a blast and allow for some great character growth as well as thrilling plots. Arrow had a really great time loop episode in its final season, excited to see SHIELD's time loop episode in its final season. The episode preview gives me a very Edge of Tomorrow/ARQ vibe, unsurprisingly, which is exciting.

@HeavyMetal4Life - arq was my first thought, especially with coulson filling in as the computer that is recording all the loops that not even the humans realize

@lemric - definitely! That movie is a bit underrated, I really enjoyed it and thought that Robbie Amell did a good job.

Though I'm wondering here if Coulson and Daisy are the only ones that are repeating the day due to the fact that they were 'asleep' when the Zephyr time jumped.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - The Stories and Science of Androids, Space Travel and Aliens
For seven seasons Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has managed to take us on one wild ride after another. The show is coming to an end with season seven, which premiered on May 27, and we are excited to celebrate the show with this panel. It is one thing to explore the amazing, and sometimes scary, abilities of inhumans (mutants), and quite another to take these stories into a matrix-like world, into space and even on a time-traveling adventure. Join the Fleet Science Center and executive producers, writers, and actors from Marvel's immensely popular TV show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as they reveal how these stories came to life and discuss with San Diego scientists if they got the science right. Panelists are Jeffrey Bell (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. showrunner, executive producer, and writer), Andrea Decker (Fleet Science Center, moderator), Dr. Virginia De Sa (professor in the Cognitive Science Department at UC San Diego), Elizabeth Henstridge (actor, Jemma Simmons), Dr. Anila Kanchan Madiraju (research associate at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies), Melissa Miller (scientist and science writer at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography), James Oliver (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. co-producer and writer), Sharla Oliver (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. co-producer and writer), Dr. Troy Sandberg (postdoctoral researcher at UC San Diego), Joel Stoffer (actor, Enoch), and Craig Titley (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer and writer).

This show has really been missing Fitz, as much fun as it has been.

I'm currently rewatching the entire series. I think so far I'd rank the seasons as follows.

1. Season 4
2. Season 3
3. Season 5
4. Season 2
5. Season 7
6. Season 1
7. Season 6

season 1 is a lot better on a rewatch than when I first watched it, but definately was still trying to find itself. It's legitimately really good in the last 8 episodes. Season 2 is also massively underrated and really solid through the entire run. Forgot how much great stuff happened in there.
