Yeah it's definitely getting better. The studio execs made the creators promise something when they greenlit the show past 6 episodes: "Make it....good."

That is why episodes 7 and 8 have stepped it up. (6 was decent because originally that was the season finale for the short season.)

You really gotta feel sorry for Coulson. And now we see his nightmares (which would be a sweet dream for most ppl)

Really this show is starting a hell of a lot better then Smallville did and that show got 10 seasons. Be patient and see where it's going before jumping down throats because of an expectation you created in your head.

@GoldenOne33

I am more scared for DC as they seem to be making it up as they go while marvel has planned years ahead. Heck Dark Universe or Justice League Dark (whichever they're going with) seems more together then the whole DCCU a few months ago. That is scary as a DC fanboy.

@GoldenOne33- even though DC did not have to be brought up in this thread.. That's your OPINION so let's leave it at that guys. Don't need a flame war starting all over again

Hate is so cool. Anyways, Jonathan Frakes directed the newest episode. That's Commander Riker from Star Trek TNG. I thought it was great how the episode opened up with a narrative over the stars as perhaps a tribute. Cool stuff.

I am a DC and Marvel fan, though I like DC more. But this is not the article to bring up DC like that!

Oh I liked Smallville, but it didn't get really good until after season 4 imo. At first season was wow. Freak of the weak with barly any comic connection even less then Agents. I own it of course lol because I like the series, but yea I just feel this is starting stronger is all

This was actually one of the better, darker episodes. I guess after 10 minutes you barely get to see that...

I personally watched the whole episode tonight. I thought it was funny that my kids think the show is just terrible. And what is sad is my oldest son who is 16 is a die hard Marvel fan!

How can you take a shot at Whedon for being a "comedy writer", yet you are all excited for Kevin Smith? Is he not also a "comedy writer"?

come on man, be real. You come on an AoS article, and don't even mention the show. You just go on about dc owning. You knew exactly what you were doing. Be a man. Don't throw a molotov and run, say yeah I did it so what.

Such a good episode!! Surprise development at the end too regarding Ward, just when you think you know where something is going they swerve the other way.

Really looking forward to Ward's brother jumping into the show at some point, i smell an awesome arch-nemesis coming.

Tonight's episode was really good actually, as were the last 2. I was actually fully engaged with the events of this epsiode as opposed to the first few where my attention would kind of wane. People rushed too quickly to judge the show, it definitely has potential to become something special. The way the episode ended was great too because it was totally unexpected, and I'm enjoying seeing these character's past and what events helped develop their psyche. I get that Whedon wanted to establish this team of characters and get us to actually care about them first instead of using a million cameos as a crutch. That being said, I hope down the line, maybe after the midseason break, or at least season 2 (if there is one), that we'll start to see way more Marvel characters. I'm pretty sure Graviton is going to appear sometime again this season, maybe for the finale, but there are tons of other characters they could add as well.

I really was disappointing with this show at first, but it really has been getting better. I didn't like the first 5 episodes of Arrow either but I gave the show another chance and now I love it. I'm going to let this season play out before I decide it's a failure or not.

Just when you think an episode of SHIELD is going to be great....it manages to not be great.
