Disney+'s upcoming Hawkeye spinoff, Echo, is scheduled to begin production later this year, and it looks like Marvel Studios has begun to round out the show's supporting cast.

According to The Direct, Academy Award-nominee Graham Greene has signed on for the project in an undisclosed role. The veteran stage and screen star, who is of Indigenous (Oneida) Canadian descent, was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his work in Dances With Wolves, and has also appeared in the likes of Thunderheart, The Green Mile, Twilight, and Wind River.

Though no details on Greene's character were provided, there's a chance he's been cast as The Chief, and old friend of Maya's father's who sends her on a vision quest in the comics.

Alaqua Cox debuted as Maya Lopez, aka Echo, in Hawkeye, and is set to return to lead her own series. When we last saw the conflicted antihero she was putting a bullet in The Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) after coming to the realization that he was the one responsible for her father's death. Wilson Fisk almost certainly survived, however, and will likely return as the main antagonist of Echo.

Greene's casting has yet to be confirmed, so we'll have to treat it as a rumor for now. Be sure to stay tuned for updates.

Echo series is such a random show to be making. Even after Hawkeye appearance, she’s still very unknown. Couldn’t they make like an Elektra series or some other more recognizable character?

Interested in how they will incorporate and display Native American culture.

Wind River is one of my all time favorite movies, and he was damn good in it in a smaller support role. This is great news.

I love his voice. It's like everything he says is dryly sarcastic.

Great actor, has been in many movies. Was funny in Maverick with Mel Gibson and was good in Wind River with Elisabeth Olsen.

Great actor! I do hope we get a lot of flashbacks, though. It would really suck for Zahn McClarnon to have his talent squandered on a handful of minutes of screen-time.

Interesting to see if they introduce any other indigenous characters here. I could see Shaman coming into play, or American Eagle. Would also love to see Thomas Fireheart/Puma come into play someday, but don't know where his rights fall along the Marvel/Sony divide.

Great actor. Since they (imo) screwed up Taskmaster (where the character should’ve been some combination Exterminatrix, Vindiktor and Iron Maiden (in costume only in order to keep her identity hidden for the big twist) revealing Nat was actually Drakov’s daughter and he had her mother killed)

I wonder if they will have Echo initially take on the Taskmaster codename (since they have the same abilities, if not Ronin, before becoming Echo

I’d like to see her take the Ronin name before Blade temporarily takes it.

Not surprising, there are not so many notable Native American actors in Hollywood unfortunately.

This show will probably have the whole cast of Longmire in it lol

Awesome, a great actor. Dances With Wolves is one of my favorite movies. I was pleasantly surprised to see him appear in the last part of 1883 the other week.

A fantastic actor. Sadly though being a late 20s boy who grew up in Canada in the mid to late 90s I can only see him in one role.

Why Oh Why? I do not want to watch a show of a two bit criminal and I doubt very much anyone else does either, what a suck ass character she was.
