Last week, Echo star Alaqua Cox confirmed that production was underway on the Hawkeye spinoff with an Instagram post which also included a message from Reservation Dogs star Kawennáhere Devery Jacobs wishing her luck ahead of filming.
Jacobs hadn't been announced as a cast member at the time, but her note led to speculation that she might be joining Cox on set at a later date. Now, Deadline has made her casting official.
As usual, details on her character are few and far between, but we do know that Jacobs will be playing "Julie," who is described as resilient and strong willed. We can't think of any Native American Marvel Comics characters named Julie off the top of our head, but there's always a chance her real identity is being kept under wraps. Of course, she's just as likely to be an all-new creation for the show.
Jacobs plays Elora Danan in FX's superb Reservation Dogs, and has also been enlisted as a writer for the upcoming second season.
Cox debuted as Maya Lopez, aka Echo, in Hawkeye, and is set to return to lead her own series. When we last saw the conflicted antihero she was putting a bullet in The Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) after coming to the realization that he was the one responsible for her father's death. Wilson Fisk almost certainly survived, however, and will likely return as the main antagonist of Echo.
Charlie Cox is also expected to appear as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, but that's yet to be confirmed.
